BBC Good Food has named Galway as the No. 1 Foodie Destination in the World.&nbsp;

The magazine commended Galway as "a shining star in the country's ever-expanding culinary firmament" and gave praise to delicacies such as heather-grazed lamb and shellfish plucked from the Wild Atlantic Way coastline.

They give a special mention to the refined dishes of Galway's Michelin-starred Aniar restaurant and the hearty breakfasts of Clifden's The Quay House B&amp;B.&nbsp;

Other global foodie destinations in the magazine's list include Lyon in France and Los Cabos, Mexico.&nbsp;

The No. 1 Foodie Destination title comes in good time ahead of Galway as European Capital of Culture 2020, where an estimated 1,900 arts and cultural events will take place across the city and county.
