Galway City Council has been honoured with 10 nominations for the 2025 All-Ireland Community and Council Awards, including the highly coveted title of Council of the Year.&nbsp;&nbsp;
The All-Ireland Community and Council Awards, now in their 19th year, celebrate the collaborative efforts of local authorities and communities in creating positive change. This year’s competition saw a record-breaking 311 nominations, reflecting the significant contributions of councils across the country.&nbsp;&nbsp;
The awards ceremony will take place in Cork in February 2025, where Galway City Council’s initiatives will compete against other outstanding projects from around Ireland.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Among the nominations, Galway City Council’s commitment to mental health, Irish language preservation, environmental conservation, and energy efficiency stand out.&nbsp;
Projects such as Galway Positive Ageing Week, Gaillimh le Gaeilge, and the Buaile Bó Ballyloughane Conservation Grazing Project were recognised.&nbsp;
Other initiatives include the innovative Net Zero Pilot City for energy sustainability, The Air We Share for community well-being, and Platform 94, which has been nominated for the National Impact Award.&nbsp;
Galway City also shines in fostering local entrepreneurship, with MartEye securing a nomination for Best Micro Start-Up.&nbsp;&nbsp;
