Contact Information

Set on a corner plot named after a founding family of the Tribes of Galway and one of Galway city’s first mayors, John Blake, 1487 – 1488. The award winning Blake’s Corner Bar is positioned at the historical Blake’s Corner where Eglinton St and Mary St meet. Only a two minutes stroll from Eyre Square, on route to The Town Hall Theatre and Galway’s Cathedral. The area has a proud association with the historically famous Persse’s Whiskey distillery that was located by the Salmon Weir Bridge. Persse’s Galway Whiskey hit the headlines back in 2002 when a full size bottle turned up for sale in the UK, claiming to be the rarest bottle of whiskey in the world with a price tag of....Stg£100,000! During a period of refurbishment in 2012 two large stone tablets were uncovered in a kitchen wall which dated back to 1790 which bore the name John Scully along with the freemason symbol, giving an interesting insight into the building’s historic past. They are now main feature pieces on display in the bar today. At Blake’s Corner Bar you will find a relaxing, contemporary, social bar. A good place to enjoy live music, chat with friendly locals or relax beside an open fire with one of the many Irish Whiskeys available. Blake’s Corner Bar is also known to be a favourite watering hole among local and international talent such a Killian Murphy, John Mahoney and Paraic Breathnach. A great spot for a pre theatre pint and a dram or uisce beatha to get the evening started. Enjoy the finest locally sourced food with a great selection of beers and spirits. Their resident experts, Ulick and James are great characters and are always happy to make a recommendation to suit any taste.
