The steeple of Christ Church is one of the great landmarks of Fermoy. The church was completed in 1809. It reflects much of the architectural style of Church of Ireland churches, including several brass and marble memorial plaques. One of its unique features is a tall entrance door which was designed to facilitate the carrying of military banners into the church. Before 1921, military detachments held regular church parades, followed by band recitals outside the church.
