The Heron Café is a family-run business located in the heart of Pearse Square, Fermoy. Continuously endeavouring to showcase the best of Fermoy’s locally-sourced food and drink, The Heron offers a wide range of delicious artisan coffees, gourmet sandwiches, hot lunch options and bakes made fresh daily. Established in August 2016 by Dee McCarthy and family, The Heron has made a name for itself both locally and nationally as a go-to for premium, speciality coffee. We were listed as one of the Top 50 Coffee Shops in Ireland by the Irish independent in 2019. Our dedicated, close team always strives to deliver excellent coffee, great service, and a real taste of local. We are committed to sourcing quality ingredients from local suppliers to guarantee freshness and flavour. House favourites like our Spillane chicken sandwich and Fitzgeralds sausage rolls are made with only the finest local meats, cheeses and bread. We craft a number of vegetarian options too, like our Veggie Buffalo sandwich prepared fresh every morning with greens supplied by local D&M Fruit & Veg and mozzarella from Cork producer Macroom Buffalo. In addition, all of our tasty ´Heron-made` treats are prepared in-house. Our signature coffee is supplied by boutique, artisan roasters Badger and Dodo. A well-known, Fermoy-based brand, they are expert in producing the unique and consistent blends our customers have come to know and love. We also stock their filter coffee in a variety of speciality blends; find the best bean for you by enquiring with a member of our team in-store! Our cosy, authentic interior and adjacent deck can seat up to 25 diners, when not impacted by the current restrictions. We are also very much open for takeaway, so do drop by for a delicious coffee, heronmade treat or sandwich when you’re out and about in Fermoy!
