Success
James Joyce first met Nora Barnacle on Nassau Street on Friday 10th June 1904. They arranged to meet again on 14th June but Nora did not turn up for the date. She was working as a chambermaid in Finn's Hotel at the time, off the corner of Merrion Square. To avoid embarrassing Nora by showing up at the hotel to inquire about her absence, Joyce wrote her a letter. They arranged to meet again on June 16th. This rendezvous began a long relationship that eventually led to marriage in 1931 and continued until Joyce's death.
