The Custom House is a neoclassical 18th century building in Dublin, Ireland which houses the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government. It is located on the north bank of the River Liffey, on Custom House Quay between Butt Bridge and Talbot Memorial Bridge. The Visitor Centre located in and around the Dome or Clocktower area which contains the most important interior features to have survived the destruction of the building by fire in 1921 during one of the more dramatic events of the War of Independance. The Visitor Centre includes a Gandon Museum, the history of the Custom House itself, and important characters who have had offices in the building in the two centuries since it was completed.
