In 2014, Artist John Adams moved to Cobh and renovated an old house that was derelict and had not been lived in for more than 30 years. He converted the lower ground floor into an art gallery and community cultural arts space located right in the centre of the town. Since lockdown, John has been using the Gallery as a studio, so you can visit the artist in his gallery and studio in one. You can buy paintings directly from the artist and speak about the art — he is available to do commissions, portraits, and even murals. John likes to take on new challenges with his brushes and finds many different subjects and ideas so his art keeps changing. You can learn how to paint with John: he is giving personal and group art and painting classes in the very flexible, safe environment of the studio. He is an experienced artist-curator and is available to advise clients on a personal and professional level. He offers art purchasing advice, home art hanging, and curation services. Coliemore The Artist's House has hosted many arts and cultural events, including exhibitions, variety music evenings including poetry and storytelling. There have been plays by different theatre groups and individuals, with artists such as Julie Sharkey, John Spillane, Linda Cullen, Jimmy Crowley, Greenshine, Billy Kennedy, Dominic Moore Actor, Colm O Reilly actor, Alice Barry actor and writer visual artist Bill Griffin, the Haulbowline Theater Group, the Dagenham Yanks, and many others. Other events included the Cobh Zero Waste Clothes Swap and Cobh Readers and Writers Festival.
