wonderful way to celebrate retirement.
 Marty Fleming a native of Castlemartyr, was a dedicated teacher at Scoil Iosaif Naofa in Cobh for 39 years. He retired on Friday October the 2nd. On Saturday at noon he attended the First Holy Comunion, for the pupils of the school. Cobh GAA put on a special hurling game at 2pm, as a tribute to his huge commitment to Sport in the school, particularly to Gaelic games. He managed a team of pupils and ex pupils from from the school  assisted by Paudie Kearney,  a new teacher in the school, to an narrow victory, over a team from other schools in the town, who play with the club. The game was referred by Don Ryan, one of the chief organizers of the event. Marty was the recipient of a special presentation from the club to mark the occasion.  He was thanked by John Spriggs  club chairman, for his huge commitment. Marty in reply stated that when he went to the interview for the post, he was asked if he would help out with hurling training and he gave an assurance he would. He certainly lived up to his promise and much more as well for other sports including athletics. He said the presentation he was made would have pride of place in his home.
