Louise’s  National award, a  Covid good news story
One of the most positive and uplifting good news stories to emerge from the Covid lockdown, comes from Cobh. It has been a huge sense of positivity and recognition not just for Louise,  and  not just for the great Island,  but for the whole country. 
Louise O’Connor,  better known to her friends  as “Loulou” has been a great source for good, in the many projects she has been engaged in, in recent years. Her ingenuity and entrerpeneurial skills,  were recently recognized, on the National stage, when her project,  received the overall Energia  Get Ireland Growing award,  for 2020. The preschool professional,  has always believed in the outdoor classroom and she transformed her garden into a communal allotment several years ago “Patch na bPaisti”. which she called it, and it became an informal Saturday morning activity for hundreds of young children.
Reflecting
Reflecting on this years campaign, Energia’s sponsoring manager  for the project,    started off in May and has distributed £60,000 of food growing resources since then. She stated the response to this years competition, has been phenomenal. “We’ve seen tens of thousands of people participating across the 32 counties, which shows Irish people are increasingly taking steps towards amore sustainable lifestyle.” This is an indication of the huge achievement of Louise. It comes as well with a very welcome prize fund totalling €5,000.  Plans are well advanced,  to put the money to good use, to rebuild the garden plot and to expand her community group. Louise prize includes   a brand new polytunnel, courtesy of @thepolytunnelco, to help her teach and grow all the year round and keep her beds safe from future storms.  Congratulations Louise we wish her every good luck.
