<p>Cobh’s Tidy Town’s journey began in 1976 but in the last 10 years Cobh has marched right to the top of the National Tidy Towns Competition. Cobh is blessed with a unique seaside location and setting in Cork Harbour. It’s a great starting point but it is the positivity and energy of the Cobh community that has made Cobh what it is today. There is a palpable sense of pride in Cobh, a realisation that Cobh is a fantastic place to live in and the town that has world class Tourist Attractions.<br>This success is in part due to a tremendous team of committed volunteers making a difference in Cobh every single day of the year. Our projects are about preserving, enhancing, enlightening and education and our partners in Save Our Swifts Cobh, Cobh Zero Waste, Cobh Little Library. Clean Coast Cobh and BirdWatch Ireland at Cuskinny Marsh Nature Reserve play a vital part in realising our vision. <br>Tidy Towns is now Ireland’s largest environmental and sustainability movement where Litter and Tidiness are just one category alongside Community Building, Wildlife, Biodiversity and Sustainable Living. Tidiness and Litter Control are almost taken as a given, but still provide many challenges and take up a huge amount of time and resources. There have been a large number of projects completed including painting of Murals, landscaping, streetscape painting colour schemes and most recently Cobh’s Garden of Reflection. There are also a huge amount of housekeeping tasks – litter picking, pole painting, landscaping and flower displays along with wildlife and sustainability initiatives.<br>Cobh Tidy Towns has been the catalyst for what has been a whole town effort over the past decade to bring Cobh to where it is today <br>Cork County Council, Cobh &amp; Harbour Chamber, the schools of Cobh and their wonderful teachers and students and a huge numbers of organisations, our sponsors, businesses and residents have all played a huge part in making Cobh a great place to live in, work in and to visit. <br>Bringing home our 8th gold medal, County Highly Commended Award, Regional Awards for Young Persons in Tidy Towns, Waters &amp; Community Award and Regional Pollinator Award then winning the overall National All Ireland Pollinator award and finally Ireland’s Tidiest Large Town 2022 Runner up, we are very proud. <br>So these awards are shared with everyone. <br>We are proud to call Cobh home. The closing date is fast approaching. 🎉 <br><br>This year's theme is 'Our Library: A Welcome For All' 💜<br><br>There are three age categories – Under 7 years, 7 – 9 years and 10 – 12 years, and plenty of chances to win, as 12 artworks will be picked and used in our 2023 calendar. Each winner will also receive a €20 book token! 🏆<br><br>The closing date is Tuesday, November 8th- entries can be returned to your local Cork County branch or mobile library, or posted to 'Calendar Art Competition, Cork County Council Library, Carrigrohane Road, Cork, T12 K335' ✏️<br><br>All entries MUST be accompanied by a completed entry form!
