U12 Match Report: Springfield Ramblers 4-1 College Corinthians A (AET) - National Cup 2nd Round
Springfield Ramblers U12s kept up their impressive form with an extra-time win on Sunday in the Stephen Ireland Astro.
The tie had all you want from a National Cup game with Springfield only pulling away at the very end following a great contest.
Corinthians started the better and took the lead midway through the first half when their impressive #9 ran through on goal and finished well despite pressure from Luca O’Rourke. Springfield weren’t their usual selves for the remainder of the half and the First Division league leaders went in 1-0 down at the break. It could have been more had Ruairi Mulvihill, Ben Lynch and Kevin Flynn not been at their best.
The second half was much improved from the home side with Liam Reidy, Olan O’Connor and Tristan O’Donovan among those in form. It wasn’t long before the sides were level. The ever-impressive Timmy Rodewald forced a good save from the Cors goalkeeper but produced an acrobatic finish to finish off the rebound and make it 1-1. The rest of the half belonged to Ramblers, with Cael Dorgan, Ronan O’Rourke and Nevan Ryan all going close. It wasn’t to be however and extra-time would be required with the game level at the final whistle.
Springfield kept up the intensity and took the lead within 5 minutes of the restart. Midfielder Kaylan Hastings finished off a nice attacking move by Aaron Stafford, with a low finish into the corner. With the Cobh lads now in control they made it show on the scoreline final half of extra-time. Striker Darragh Leahy neatly finished off a Mikey Gill cross before Gill scored himself with the final kick of the game.
A great team display overall to put the U12s into the hat for the 3rd round.
Well done lads👏 looking great in your new jerseys😍

A large pile of rusted metal was hauled up from Connolly Street strand today by Cobh Tidy Towns volunteers.
There are a number of small anchors that can be taken if anyone would like them as an upcycling project. They will all be removed on Monday so pop down this weekend if you've a talent for working with scrap metal!

Beavers had lots of fun today! We started at Cuskinny where we got out our trusty litter pickers and did a beach clean, our 2nd one this week! Next we hiked back to our beach and on what felt like a sunny summers day, we made our fire and cooked sausages and s’mores, followed by lots sea glass bartering and making sea shell stalls! Lauren Egbuloniu with her first of the season puts up up in the 39'!!
Some of our Juvenile girls Aisling, Caoimhe, Ava and Bridget recently had the great opportunity to sit down and ask questions, it was an awesome opportunity to get some great advice from Ballymore Cobh AC Sonia O’Sullivan, just before she headed back to the USA, to her coaching job with Union Athletics Club.
There was another surprise for the girls this week when the postman arrived with a beautiful training diary from Sonia for each of the girls to help them with their training schedule & sessions.
Thank you Sonia!
