<p>An excellent first quarter set Cobh on the road to victory in this entertaining U14B girls league game against Macroom.<br><br>Sara Leahy opened the scoring for Cobh with a great rebound and put back. Six points apiece from Erin Hornibrook and Ciara Ronan saw the home side score 15 points in the opening quarter. Macroom had seven points in return with Tamara Pilat being their standout performer overall. <br><br>The second quarter saw Cobh continue to play excellent basketball and a 10 - 5 quarter saw them hold a 13 points lead at the break. Aimee Manson got the first basket of the quarter, after which Naoise Ryan took over the scoring with four  baskets. <br><br>The third quarter was a reversal of the first with Macroom taking their opportunities and eating into the Cobh lead. By the end of the quarter the lead was down to 5 points and it was looking ominous for the home team. However an improved defensive display in the last quarter ensured that Cobh took home the victory which their first-half performance had merited. Erin, Ciara and Naoise did the Cobh scoring and they were helped by good defensive displays by Aoibhinn Anderson and Emma Cronin. <p>NEW EXHIBITION OPENING ON 29 OCTOBER – Partisan Social Club: Talk to the Land<br><br>Partisan Social Club is an evolving provisional collective that assembles members through projects related to histories, theories, and practices of commoning. Talk to the Land is Partisan Social Club’s first solo show in Ireland.<br><br>Talk to the Land explores three aspects of commoning: landlordism; how to practice a culture-led reclaiming of cities; and utopian settlements in South-West Ireland. Partisan Social Club engages with the ideas of William Thompson (1778–1833) in this exhibition. Thompson was a County Cork–based thinker who championed economic equality.<br><br>Partisan Social Club comments: “We are working with the legacy of William Thompson's work. His ideas on communing were radical - close to communism. He didn't want to reform society but transform it!
