<p>Every one in PIRATES RFC are delighted for Edwin Edogbo, named to start in the 2nd row for Munster in todays  clash with Vodacom Blues in Thomond Park.  Its only a few years since Edwin was lining out for Pirates 18's. Well done Edwin, the club, community and town of Cobh wish you the very best. The game kicks off at 7.35 pm and will be shown live in The Paddocks Bar Cobh.</p>

<p>Today is the final day of the U17 National League and Ramblers have it all to play for<br><br>The Rams host leaders Kildare in St Colman’s Park at 1pm and a win would claim the title if Longford fail to beat Limerick <br><br>Fingers crossed 🤞&nbsp;</p>

<p>Our PIRATES RFC 18s girls, joined by Dolphin RFC   enjoyed their first game of the season in The Paddocks today against a great Killarney side. While the score line wasn't in our favour the experience no doubt stand to the team for the rest of the season. Thanks to Killarney for a great game.</p>

<p>Where to start!<br>Thank you to our volunteers who turn out week after week no matter the weather and take on whatever jobs need to be done without complaint. Today was another day of litter picking all around town, shovelling silt washed down the hills of the town all along the roadside edges and our super Gaisce - The President's Award TY students shovelled leaves from the Burma steps and did some weeding too. <br>Thank you to Pepsi Cork employees who took on a beach clean at Whitepoint/ Blackpoint yesterday and made a huge difference. <br>We have received our invitation to TidyTowns Ireland Awards in the RDS on 28th October so looking forward to heading up there, meeting other tidytowns groups, seeing the adjudicators report and hearing the results for 2022!</p>

<h3><span style="color: rgb(184,49,47);">Cobh 1-5 Cullen 0-5</span></h3>
<p>Cobh had a brilliant win in the Co Junior Football championships at Mourneabbey today. Played in miserable conditions the Cobh lads showed huge  commitment and fought for every ball with utter tenacity. Cullen had 2 early points and did not score again for he next 50 minutes. Great credit must go to the defence which at times with midfield support and indeed the forwards funnelling back kept Cullen at bay. Two Cian Spriggs  points one from  a free restored parity with a  Darren Heelan   point  from a free ensuring they retired to the dressing room a point to the good. Indeed they could have had a goal as well when the Cullen keeper brought off a pointblank save. The second half provided more of the same with scores very hard to come by. The complexion of the game was changed and scores were difficult to come by, with Diarmuid Kearney adding a point on the 33rd minute. After 40 minutes an opportunist goal seemed to have settled the game Diarmuid  Kearney spotted the keeper  well  off his line,  fumbling the ball he pounced and he floated the ball over the keepers head, for a moment it looked to be heading over the bar but dipped underneath it and nestled in the back of net to the dismay of the huge Cullen following and the delight of a much smaller Cobh gathering. The drama was not still over,  4 minutes later  with Cobh dicing with danger  trying to work the ball out of defence, a ball was sent across the goal aimed for the keeper who was unable to get to it and inrushing Cullen forward gained possession,   the keeper conceded a penalty, but to his eternal credit Eddy Walsh made ample amends by pulling off a brilliant save from the spot kick. That added to another point blank save from him kept Cullen at bay. A Sean Cummins point pushed the lead to 6 points and while  Cullen shot 3 points in the last  7 minutes s which meant  Cobh scored their 1-5  in between Cullens  first and the final 3. Cobh deservedly moved on to meet Buttevant in the Semi-final in 2 weeks time.</p>
