This is the first Indian rhino birth for Fota and Ireland. <br><br>The Indian rhino is listed as vulnerable by @IUCN. Mum, Maya is almost 10 yrs &amp; was born in Rotterdam Zoo. Dad, Jamil, is 9 and was born in ZSL Whipsnade Zoo. <p>What a brilliant weekend of rugby ahead. We have 8 games across the juvenile section, with some of our fantastic mini players also in action. That's over 200 players putting on the Skull and Cross Bones of PIRATES RFC over 3 days ! Looking forward to travelling to Frogmore in Youghal Rugby Football Club  on Saturday with the 18.5s as they continue their Bank of Ireland League campaign and Temple Hill in Cork Constitution FC for the 13s boys also on Saturday, while the other 6 games are at home in the Paddocks. <br>We kick of the feast of rugby on Friday evening at 7.30pm when our J2 welcome Bandon Rugby in the Junior 2 league. In the Paddocks on Saturday, the mighty under 10s welcome Youghal and Midleton Rugby Club at 10 a.m. while Brick heads West to Bantry Bay RFC with the 12s. The 16s boys also continue their league campaign welcoming Mitchelstown Rugby Club k.o. at 12.30pm.  Our 18s girls (joined by Dolphin RFC) then take to pitch at 2 pm taking on Killarney rugby Club and to close out Saturdays action the 14s girls (joined by CARRIGALINE R.F.C.) host Midelton/Youghal at 3.30pm. <br>Onto Sunday and the 14s boys are playing Waterpark Rfc in a friendly at 11 a.m. and onto the days main event when the J1s take on Dungarvan Rugby Club at 2.30 pm in round 3 on the Junior league section B. We look forward to seeing all the players, coaches, parents and supporters enjoying the rugby to come.</p>

<p>A recent documentary by RTÉ Radio 1 details one of the most chaotic nights in the history of #SpikeIslandCork and recounts the events of the infamous 1985 Prison Riot.<br><br>Told from the perspectives of a prison officer, prisoner and an island resident, the documentary by Peter Mulryan and Ronan Kelly provides a fascinating insight into the night inmates escaped the prison and fortress. <br><br>Our historic island is open every weekend in October and November. <p>“Fail to prepare, prepare to fail,” said a wise Corkonian. <br><br>While there was little one could do to put a stop to the challenging conditions at yesterday’s County Cross Country Championships held in Ballynoe, the black and amber brigade did give a debut to the newly acquired club tent which done a fine job in housing all manner of athletes, parents, supporters &amp; coaches, young and younger still.<br><br>Opening proceedings for Ballymore Cobh AC were Charlotte O’Reilly, Emily Drumgoole and Lana Johansson who each performed with great credit in the U9 Girls race on a course that provided a real test for experienced athletes, let along this selection of our youngest competitors. <br><br>Similarly brave in their efforts were the U9 Boys team consisting of Alfie Cummins, Charlie Barrett, Luca Dorgan &amp; Séan O’Connell who all got stuck in when the going got tough. <br><br>Sarah Drumgoole and Nell Marshall lined out for the U13 Girls and both ran exceptionally well despite the wind and rain they faced into.<br><br>The Boys U13 was one of the largest fields of the day, in which we had five runners, each gaining valuable experience every time they line out. Great running by the team of Byron Frahill, James Drumgoole, Freddie Cronin, Keelan Myler and Flynn Johannson.<br><br>U15 Girls, Ava Chandler and Aisling Ó’Leary, again put in terrific performances in the quickly deteriorating conditions. These girls are made of stern stuff and a joy to watch every time they race.<br><br>Dáire Ó’Leary is cut from the same cloth, tough as nails and up an age group to U15, running brilliantly well.<br><br>Last, but not least, on the day was Caoimhe Carolan in the U17 Girls. Racing over 4000m with the U19 Girls for company, Caoimhe was now mixing it up with athletes a few years older but ran like we know she can. Unconcerned with those around her, she ran a superb race and stormed up the hill into the finish as the new U17 County Cross Country Champion.<br><br>Well done to all who travelled in such terrible conditions and still managed to go home smiling.</p>

<p>The premier Munster competition  in Schools hurling is the Harty Cup. Midleton CBS opened their account with a thrilling draw with St Colman's  College,  Fermoy. The game ended on 20 points each and as well as starring for the Midleton school Timmy chipped in with two points at a crucial stage near the end. No doubt these 2 schools will have designs on the cup,  but they must negotiate  the group stage to progress. We will keep you posted.</p>

<p>Parents with a young family have to move shortly from a house they are renting which the landlord is moving back to. They have 3 young school going girls a 3-4 bedroom house. I know the family and would appreciate iy anyone can help out.</p>
