<h2>Irish Life Dublin Marathon</h2>

The Dublin Marathon is an annual 26.2 mile (42.2 km) road marathon in Dublin, held on the last Sunday in October. Held each year since 1980, the marathon had a record 22,500 registrants for the 2019 race, including over 5,000 entrants from outside Ireland. The race was founded in 1980 by a group led by Noel Carroll, who persuaded the Business Houses Athletic Association (BHAA) to take up the idea. In the first year, 2,100 took part, of whom 1,420 finished. Dick Hooper of Raheny club Raheny Shamrock Athletic Club claimed first place, in a time of 2:16:14. The women's winner was Carey May who finished in 2:42:11. That year's runner-up was Neil Cusack, who returned in 1981 to post a winning time of 2:13:59. Just a little history lesson. 🤓 This year we had 5 strong members from the club to take on the marathon, running through the streets of Dublin where dreams come true. First in we had: Trevor Cummins in an outstanding time of 2:34 Hot on his heels was Eoin Downing crossing the line in 2:43 what an achievement for a marathon debut. Next to cross the finish line was Ber Rowe in 4:12just weeks after completing her Ironman in protugal. Next we had Sarah Ahern in 4:34 &amp; Kevin O’Keeffe 4:37 keeping each other company through the full 26.2 miles. Margaret O’Connell came storming over the line minutes later in 4:42 Incredible achievement from all member. A day to remember 💛🖤

 We had a fantastic launch event for Partisan Social Club’s Talk to the Land exhibition. Mel Jordan and Andy Hewitt, of Partisan Social Club, Dr Eve Olney, of The Living Commons – The Radical Institute, and members of the audience discussed some of the ideas advanced by William Thompson (1778–1833) and, more broadly, themes of the commons, all of which inform the exhibition. Partisan Social Club engages with the ideas of William Thompson in this exhibition. Thompson was a Cork County and City–based radical thinker who championed economic equality. Talk to the Land explores three aspects of commoning: landlordism; how to practice a culture-led reclaiming of cities; and utopian settlements in South-West Ireland.
