<h3>Feast of St Colman Patron Saint</h3>

<p>Today we celebrate the Feast of St. Colman, patron saint of our Cathedral here in Cobh and of our Diocese of Cloyne. <br><br>Colmán is remembered as the founder of the monastery at Cluain Uama, now Cloyne. Not much has been written on the life Colmán, but various aspects of his life are presented in different types of sources, such as Irish annals, genealogies and martyrologies. <br><br> St Colman, pray for us&nbsp;</p>
<h3>Archdeacon Gerard Casey RIP Laid to Rest</h3>

<p>Great  sadness was occasioned with unexpected death of Archdeacon Gerard  Casey retired Parish priest of Mallow.  He retired to Doneraile where he was PP for 10 years and back in 1984 he was curate in the Shanballymore side of the parish. Many tributaries have been paid to this multitalented cleric, but above all he was a man of the people but especially a man of God. Both aspects were alluded to by Bishop William Crean, principal concelebrant at his funeral mass and Canon Jim Killeen who gave an inspiring homily. Sixty more colleagues joined in the concelebrated mass. He was laid to rest in the church grounds  in the parish he guided with dedication for 7 years.</p>
<p>Personally I always found him to be a man of knowledge and a man who was very much up to speed in technology and social media as well as an accomplished photographer. It was appropriate and significant that he was laid to rest on the Feast of St Colman patron of the diocese. We were colleagues in Carlow College. In January 1970 we both returned to the diocese after a loan spell in the Diocese of Cardiff. Gerry headed for Meelin while I headed to Midleton. He ministered in Cobh from 1993 to 1999 the last 5 years as administrator. Our sympathies go his sister, relatives and many friends. Rest in Peace.<br>&nbsp;</p>

But if we can look deeper we know we will find something to be grateful for.<br><br>A spirit of thankfulness or gratefulness always goes a long way. We thank God for all our blessings 🙏🏻</p>

<p>Great win today for the U16 Girls Basketball team in a very close match in the County B semi-final. <br><br>Colaiste na Toirbhirte, Bandon, played a great match with a super defensive display but the Col girls came away with the win after a last minute 3 pointer from Kate C. <br><br>Next up the County Final in Neptune stadium!!!&nbsp;</p>

<p>Last Thursday our MFL Department held several workshops for Languages Connect Day. <br><br>Our Transition Years participated in various workshops that included, dance lessons and food tasters. Some of our international students even tasted their first Tayto sandwich!!! Our MFL Teachers ran a Kahoot also with the winning team pictured below. <br><br>Over the last two weeks, they ran a Bake Off Competition, sponsored by Ellen’s Kitchen. Congratulations to our winners for their Spanish creation. <br><br>Our Transition Years had a great half day learning lots about the various languages on offer to them. <br><br>A great day was had by all, thank you to our language teachers for such a memorable day.&nbsp;</p>

Orla told us all about her job and taught us some safe crossing rules. We walked to the zebra crossing in our hi-vis vests and practiced safe crossing! Thank you Orla!&nbsp;</p>
