<h3>A story for the ages as told by Alexandra and it is quite extraordinary</h3>

<p>Let me tell you a fun story. On Sunday after Mass, we were enjoying breakfast in the parish hall. A fellow parishioner came up and asked whether I knew the wifi password. I told her what it was and realized she was giving it to a man I'd never seen before. He explained that he wanted to check the British Open to see how Rory McIlroy was doing. I commented that my dad loved the Open because he was from England; this gentleman was from Ireland. I asked him if he was in town for the Worlds and he said he was. I don't know why, but I asked him if he was with the Irish team. He told me he used to manage the Irish team, but retired last year. He said he was here on his own because he wanted to support the team, but also because he wanted to see where Steve Prefontaine ran (as soon as they announced the location of the Worlds, he knew he had to go for this reason). He then tells me that he flew in from Dublin the day before and had a harrowing day of wandering around Eugene, trying to find accommodations. Because he wasn't officially with the team anymore, he had to find his own place to stay. He finally found a room, but it was very expensive and had no breakfast. As he was talking to me, I grabbed my phone and texted my friend Clodagh, who is from Ireland and is one of the most hospitable people I know...in addition to her family sharing a love of track and field (and her being a physical therapist for UofO athletics)! She texted me back that she actually knew who this priest was! She said, "he is a famous sports photographer priest! He can stay with us!" It turned out that Clodagh and Fr.Liam shared the same last name (Kelleher) on top of it all, and he is heading to Fairbanks, Alaska after his time at the World's (which is where Clo and her husband ran a B&amp;B for many years!). Fr.Liam also served as a priest in Wales, where my dad is from. The coincidences were just unbelievable. It's amazing what can transpire by just asking a few questions and letting things unfold! The Holy Spirit was definitely guiding things for this dear priest, who is now enjoying a much more restful and enjoyable visit to Eugene, courtesy of the Thompson Family</p>

<p>The Thompson family who adopted me at Eugene in Oregon pictured outside the stadium on Monday evening after another tremendous night of athletics, included are family members Eamon Coghlan World champion in 1993 Feighlin Kelly well known coach The evening   featuring the mens high jump Barshim from Quatar winning in 2.37  from Lua South Korea and was nice to see the Ukranian finish 3rd Protsenko. The women's triple jump was won by Rojas from Venezuela in close to the world record jumping 15.47. Kenya took their last gold medal in a terrific 1,500m final. In a class filed 4 athletes broke away including Laura muir and they opened a 50m gap leaving the rest struggling in their wake. The medals went to Faith Kipyegon who initiated the furious pace, winning in a brilliant 3,52.96. close to the long standing world record, with Laura getting bronze for her bravery in going with the pace clocking 3,55.28. In an exciting heptathlon the Belgian Thiam  came out on top with 6,947 points.</p>

<p>Drama came in the steeplechase for all the wrong reasons a cameraman standing on the track on the home straight right in front of the oncoming athlete he never hear the howls of the crowd and the athletes had to die step him. The race once the preserve of the invincible Kenyans  turned into a slow tactical race and played into the hands of the Olympic champion El Bakkali from Morocco in a pedestrian time of 8.25.13, ahead of Girma Ethiopia and Kipruto Kenya 3rd. It was the first time since since 2005 tat a Kenyan did not finish top of the podium. in the morning the women Marathon was won in a tremendous time of 2.18.11 seconds why Ethiopia's Gotytom Gebressalase. Korir Kenya was 2nd 2.18.20.</p>
<p>We await more brilliant athletics in the stadium on Tuesday evening</p>
