<p>Great teamwork this morning from the newly formed Cobh Sustainability Group which includes Cobh MD Cork County Council, Cobh Tidy Towns,Ballymore Community and Cobh Zero Waste. Many thanks to Clodagh Meade from Cork County Council for organising the biodiversity signs for the Rossleague designated biodiversity plot and to Colm Damery from Cobh Tidy Towns, who with John Armstrong  from Ballymore  Community, erected the signs. Also thank you to Anna Aherne, Cobh Zero Waste, Colm and Sean Holland for helping tidy up this area last November. With some native trees planted last week we now await Nature's natural regeneration in this beautiful area.💚<br><br>The project at Rossleague came about through The Public Lands Project which started in 2022. This involved identifying a suitable public site which could be developed from a biodiversity perspective.  SECAD Partnership CLG - SECAD engaged with stakeholders in the local community such as Cobh Sustainable Communities, Cobh Tidy Towns, Ballymore Association and Cork County Council. A plan was developed through training and on site visits with an ecologist. This plan involves a number of actions for the site some of which we have started on already. <br><br>The advice from the ecologist was to remove the existing foliage and wait to see what appears in Spring '23. Part of the site is newly formed bunds on which we will plant mixed native hedgerow. We will build a new bank for mining bees and monitor the area as part of the Biodiversity Ireland Bumblebee monitored scheme. It is important to erect the 'managed for wildlife' signs to stop this area being cut. The importance of having ecologists from Cork County Council involved means there is official sanction and scientific advice for the project. Although it is a small area it is important as a pilot project and hopefully the first of many on the Great island.</p>

<p>Our Junior squad were fortunate enough to be able to use the fantastic facilities in the Stephen Ireland Astro Turf recently. <br>It is invaluable to have such facilities here in Cobh which allows our teams to continue training in the typically inclement weather.&nbsp;</p>
