<p>Christmas lights switched on this Friday evening at 5pm. Switched on by Kevin Denehan winner of the art competition.</p>

<p>The overall winner of the Children's Art Competition is 6-year-old Kevin Denehan, who will be switching on the Cobh Christmas Lights on Friday at 5pm. Congratulations to Kevin what a fantastic picture of Cobh!<br><br>Thank you to all the children that did such amazing artwork. Also a massive thank you to our judges artist Sylvia Matthews and Ger McLoughlin.</p>

<p>Congratulations to our boys in 5th &amp; 6th Class and their teammates from @officialcobhgaa who brought home some silverware in both football and hurling championships recently! 🌟<br><br>Pictured here with our caretaker and club stalwart Brendan Kearney, the boys lifted the Rebel Óg - Réigiún Thóir trophy for both Peil and Iomáint! 💚💛<br><br>After Cobh's extremely successful year in club championship at senior level, the future of GAA is looking extremely bright for many years to come! 🙌</p>

<p>“The newly developed ‘School Zone’ includes colourful child friendly traffic calming measures which are designed to encourage pupils to walk, cycle or scoot to school.  <br><br>To the front of Bunscoil Rinn an Chabhlaigh, widened footpaths and a narrowed carriageway have been created to slow traffic speeds on the approach to the school.  Greater congregation space, including a new seating area, has been developed for children, parents and guardians to create a safer and more inviting space to the front of the school.  Colourful art has been added to the footpaths and road space and pencil shaped bollards have been placed at the edge of the widened paths, creating a more exciting journey to school for those who choose to walk, cycle or scoot, while also preventing cars from parking on the widened footpaths.  <br><br>In addition to the works to the front of school, and with the support of the Diocese of Cloyne, a new entrance and pathway has also been developed to the side of Bunscoil Rinn an Chabhlaigh to facilitate shorter and more direct journeys to the school from neighbouring residential areas.”</p>

<p>First Friday is traditionally a day when the priest will call to parishioners who are ill or housebound this Advent. <br><br>We think of all those who are ill and housebound today and ask your prayers for them. <br><br>Give healing to those who are sick and wholeness to those who are recovering.<br><br>Amen.</p>

<p>An action packed week for community consultation with representatives from Cobh attending Cork County PPN workshop on Community Wellbeing for the Cobh Municipal District and then at SECAD Partnership CLG - SECAD Sustainable Communities - the big picture…the local picture…and bringing it all together. Great contributions from local Cork communities on their projects related to climate change &amp; biodiversity.
