<h2>Today we celebrate the Feast of St Stephen.&nbsp;</h2>

<p>Stephen was one of the first ordained deacons of the Church. He was also the first Christian martyr after Jesus. <br><br>His story is told in the Acts of the Apostles chapters 6 and 7. As the Apostles worked to continue the ministry of Jesus Christ as his elders, some of the Greek-speaking widows were being neglected in their practical needs. The Twelve decided to ordain seven deacons to oversee their care. In doing so, the deacons extended the pastoral care of the Apostles, the first Bishops of the early Church, enabling them to attend more to teaching.<br><br>He is the patron saint of Altar Servers, bricklayers, casket makers and deacons. <br><br>St Stephen, pray for us!</p>

<p>We wish to extend our most heartfelt thanks to Cobh GAA who held their annual puc fada in aid of the cobh red cross. 🤝🤝<br><br>A huge € 2,500 was raised which is absolutely incredible!!!!<br><br>As a voluntary organisation, this funding is so important for maintaining our equipment and ambulance which is vital for the work we do. <br><br>Laura and Eoin took a spin out to the event today with our new ambulance to say thanks to everyone.<br><br>This evening Frances, John and Eoin were presented with the cheque.</p>
