<p>We are delighted to welcome past pupil, Erica Mulvihill as our Guest Speaker  <br><br>Erica is the Director of Nursing in Cobh Community Hospital and she spoke about caring for others, her work in The Mercy University Hospital Cork, and her current job role where she is responsible for 44 elderly people and 67 staff in Cobh Community Hospital.&nbsp;</p>

<p>These committees give their time and efforts to various causes connected to our school. They are our Meitheal Team, our Digital Leaders, our Green Schools Committee and our Student Council.  <br><br>Congratulations to you all. Your contribution to our school community is valued so much.&nbsp;</p>

<p>5th class boys had an amazing time exploring Cobh ! They visited the library and promenade to do some reading.</p>

<p>Great experience   for our mighty 11s who travelled to  Thomand Park today. At half time in the Heineken Cup encounter between Munster and Toulouse,  the lads  played Copeswood Gaels RFC .&nbsp;</p>
<h2>TIDY TOWNS</h2>

<p>Wall to wall sunshine in bitter temperatures it was a great Saturday morning to be out. Volunteers beach cleaned at Carrigaloe and the ferry, cleared the last fall of leaves from the Burma Steps &amp; Bishop Street and litter picked all around town. <br>We were delighted to attend the unveiling of a heritage information board at the Eastern Camber detailing the history of the Whaleboat men and Bumboat women of Cobh. It is an extraordinary story and remembers the ‘ordinary people of Cobh’, as described by Marita Foster, their livelihoods and tragic losses of life. So important to tell their stories to remember those who were here before us. Great to see two of the youngest residents of the Holyground unveil the board- Lily and Diarmuid and to see so many locals and relatives of many of those lost at sea. Fantastic work by Marita Foster and Páidí Ó Maoiláin researching, compiling the information and completing the initiative. An important project supported by the Cobh Tidy Towns Pride of Place Bursary from Cobh Credit Union Ltd and The Cobh Chronicle. Do take a wander down to read all about it. If you have any ideas you would like to undertake for 2023 to enhance the area where you live with a biodiversity, heritage or landscaping project get in touch!&nbsp;</p>

<p>An absolutely wonderful afternoon and  evening was enjoyed by all at the Annual Ballymore Senior Citizens Christmas Party. With sincere gratitude to all of our fabulous volunteers Breda, Grainne, Helen, Marie, Noel, Paul, Olly, Abhleen, Theresa, Sarah and Nessa for their tremendous work for making this party such a most memorable event, to Santa Terry,  for being such a good sport as always, to Michelle,Centra,for the scrumptious catering, to Declan for the great music and, last but not least, to our fantastic  Elf, Carmel, whose  entertainment was just brilliant throughout the party.</p>
<p>Well done to each and every one!&nbsp;</p>
<h4>Message from Fr Liam App Co-ordinator</h4>
<p>Sorry I could make  the dinner your invitation very much appreciaed<br> I had a months mind mass for a relative in Coolea near the Kerry border at noon. I had intended to go back to Cobh and a good friend, from my last parish died unexpectedly and I spent a lot of the evening in her home and offered up the Rosary and officiated at her funeral mass today at Courtbrack church and burial At Stuake  Donoughmore. I was so disappointed I could not make the party and all reports said it was brilliant. Thanks to all of you who made it happen.. Thanks Finola for brilliant report and pictures which  you can see here on the Cobh App.</p>

<p>We had a lovely morning for our coaches, our younger players &amp; their families in the club this morning. <br>Thanks to everyone who helped to set up and tidy away.  Thanks to everyone who provided the refreshments and entertainment. A special thanks to all of our older players who helped to make it an enjoyable morning for all who came to visit Santa. <br>Finally, thanks to Brian Farrell &amp; Kevin Hurley for their assistance to Santa on the day.</p>

<p>To Commemorate 80th Anniversary of the Cork Harbour Tragedy. L.E WILLIAM BUTLER YEATS under the Command of Lt/ Cdr O'Nechtain sailed from Naval Base with family members of the deceased to the site of the disaster off the Dog Nose to lay Wreath's also on board were  members of the Cobh Branch O.N.E.</p>

<p>An amazing day at the European Cross Country Championships! An honour for Anika to represent Ireland. Thank you to everyone for your kind words of support, from near &amp; far,  this weekend! <br><br>Team Ireland finished joint second (with France and Spain) in overall medal count!&nbsp;</p>
<p>Delighted to get this message from Clodagh Thompson nee Kelleher a native of Ovens who gave me. a home when I was in Eugene Oregon in August for the world championships. Clodagh is the physio for the university of Oregon team, her husbands bother is Vice President of the university and daughter Anika runs for the university. She has declared for  Ireland and 3 weeks ago she returned to Ireland to compete in the Athletics Ireland  under 20 Xcountry championship.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Family support in Turin</p>
<p>I travelled the 600km with Carol Chandler and her daughter Ava for the event. Anika was  the  first person I met when we got to the hotel near Creeslough. I met he grandad Dan Joe, whom i had not met for 40 years when his daughters were competing with Ovens. I thought we made a long journey to Donegal but Anika travelled 6,000 miles. Her dad, mum sister and brother  travelled even further  to support Anika in Turin as she made  her debut for Ireland. Some support and dedication. I would have loved to be there, but had a wedding on Friday and a funeral today. Many congratulations to Anika and her amazing family, and your kindness to me will never be forgotten.</p>
