<h3>&nbsp;Sensory Garden officially opened in Gaelscoil Uí Éigeartaigh by recently retired School Secretary Ann Agger</h3>

Wednesday 22 June 2022 was a very special day in Gaelscoil Uí Éigeartaigh as the school had its ‘Gáirdín na gCéadfaí’ or ‘Sensory Garden’ officially opened by Ann Agger (Iar –Rúnaí na Scoile).
A special function was held in the school to honour and thank Ann for many years of loyal service to ‘An Ghaelscoil’ and its community. Members of Ann’s family as well as members of the Board of Management, Parents’ Association, School Staff and pupils all came together to mark the occasion of Ann’s retirement and to officially open the school’s new Sensory Garden which is known simply as ‘Gáirdín Ann’.
Ann’s involvement in the school goes right back to the mid-nineties when she joined the staff as ‘Rúnaí Scoile’ (School Secretary) under what was known locally as the ‘FÁS Community Scheme’. After several years in this role Ann then went on to take up a Special Needs Assistant position in the school where her kindness towards and advocacy on behalf of pupils with additional needs were renowned! It was for this reason that it was thought fitting and appropriate, on the occasion of her retirement, to open a Sensory Garden in her honour. Following her time as Special Needs Assistant, Ann was once again employed by the Board of Management of Gaelscoil Uí Éigeartaigh as School Secretary and continued in this position up until the Covid-19 pandemic hit in March 2020!
Throughout her time working in the school it was abundantly clear that Ann had a personality and skill-set that endeared her to everybody she came in contact with - be they pupils, parents, staff members or visitors to the school. She had the interests of the school (and of its younger pupils in particular) always at heart. Ann always went the extra mile in a very discreet way to help those who needed help most.&nbsp;
In his address to those gathered School Principal, Dónal Ó Duinnshléibhe, used words such as ‘ discreet’, ‘loyal’, ‘dedicated’, ‘conscientious’ and ‘good-humoured’ to describe Ann before going on to thank her for her service and for her valuable contribution to school-life in Gaelscoil Uí Éigeartaigh over the years.&nbsp;
Ann will be greatly missed in An Ghaelscoil and we all wish her every success as well as health and happiness in her retirement!&nbsp;&nbsp;

Registration is now open for our summer golf programme for juvenile members.
The tee is booked from 11.00am on Wednesday 29th June for our opening summer competition/gathering.
Registration will begin from 10.30am in the Pro Shop.
All members and new members are welcome to attend.
Our summer juvenile programme consists of several coaching sessions with our Club Professional and 9 &amp; 18 Hole competitions.

Parent volunteers are always very welcome to assist in any little way.
