Thanks to Cobn4football for their excellent PR work on their Facebook page because of it, I was able to find out about the Colleges game being played on the fab new Stephen Ireland astra turf pitch at noon on Thursday. Colaiste Mhuire took on one of the most decorated schools in Post primary college football, Franciscan College Rochestown. Interestingly Rochestown had a number of Cobh natives on their team. I was delighted to meet up with some of the pupils that I had come across in primary school, where I did a fair bit of training in recent years unfortunately not possible now for nearly two years because of Covid. The game was very enjoyable, but Rocca who had a number of Cork City and players from the top clubs in schoolboy and youth soccer, were much too strong for their Cobh counterparts. It's early days, this was both teams first game in the colleges season and both squads will have had the experience of playing on a fantastic pitch. Thanks again to Cobh4football for keeping us informed on what taking place on the pitch and giving me the opportunity of giving coverage when I am available for the Xplore Cobh app which can be downloaded free on Apple and Google.
