<p>It was an absolute pleasure to welcome our comrades from the 28th Infantry Battalion to the Cobh Branch O.N.E. VSC on 12th May 2022. These visits give an excellent opportunity to spread the word nationally of the valuable work being done in Cobh to support the Homeless, develop our Branch and support our organisation Nationally.  We hope that during any visit to Cork and Cobh by DF or Veterans Groups will consider a stop off in the VSC as an integral part of the trip. Safe Travels gentlemen on your long journey back to the Forgotten County.</p>

<p>Drop in to Cobh library this month to take a look at 'The Character of Cobh' - the fantastic collection of pictures by local photographer, Kieran Mackessy, that capture the beauty and uniqueness of the town! 📸&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
<p>Taken over a 12-year period, the images portray the unique landscape and historical heritage of the town. Also featured in the project are many of the colourful characters who currently reside in Cobh, as well as those who lived in the town down through the years 🏡</p>

<p>Whatever happens tomorrow, it is a credit to the this group of men that after two consecutive seasons being cut prematurely due to COVID 19 and with silverware well within their grasp each year, they are again for the third season in a row competing for silverware and promotion to the AUL Premier League. All the signs of a galvanised group of players and coaches, persistent in their desire for success with Springfield AFC 🟢⚪️</p>

<p>Nothing less than a win for Donoughmore is required against the Cobh men in order to have an opportunity of automatic promotion, so everything is on line for both sides in what has been a nail biting conclusion to the season.</p>

<p>A huge congrats to our U16s who finished out their season recently and have played their last game at schoolboy level. A huge thanks to Pat Maher, Tony Girosole and Patrick Walsh for all their work with the boys. We know its hugely appreciated by the boys and their families.</p>
<p>Everyone at the club would also like to wish goalkeeper Senan Dorgan the best of luck as he moves on to play for Cobh Ramblers FC U17s. We look forward to seeing you play in St Colman's Park in the Claret and Blue.</p>

<p>Cobh Basketball Club's Amy Duggan lined out for Ireland U18's against Lakeland University from Plymouth Wisconsin 🇺🇸&nbsp;</p>
<p>Ireland women’s U18 came out on top 78-53 last night in a competitive contest.</p>
<p>Love seeing two teams showing respect for one another after the game 👏</p>

<p>Our U16 Boys contested the Final Vs Gaelcoláiste Carrigaline on a wet, wild and windy Monday afternoon in at Michaels GAA pitch in Mahon.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Conditions meant that this was a game of two halves. Playing with a strong wind, Gaelcoláiste got off to a flying start and opened up a commanding lead.&nbsp;</p>
<p>We battled hard with some brilliant scores by Alex O’M to keep the scoreboard ticking over. We regrouped at half time and scored 3-3 during the opening quarter of the second half, some great scores again by Alex and Gearoid.&nbsp;</p>
<p>We fought back admirably in the second half but we just came up short against a more skilful and stronger Carrigaline team.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Other notable performances on the day, Bryan, Billy, Luke and Sean.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Hard luck lads, we go again next year. You all have represented your school so well this year.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Special thanks to Mr. Doonan for his commitment to the team and to Mr. Barry who helped out over the last two games.</p>

<p>Junior Infants learned all about the life cycle of a butterfly, they had great fun watching them transform from a caterpillar to a chrysalis to a butterfly.🐛🦋</p>
<p>&nbsp;Ms Thompsons 1st class made their own house model, future engineers in the making.🏡🔨🔧🔩</p>

<p>Avril came in to 4th class teaching them printing skills. 🖨️</p>

<p>Congratulations to 3rd Year student Áine who competed in the South Munster Schools 300m Hurdles and 1500m Steeplechase Competitions this week.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Áine won a Gold Medal in the 300m Hurdles and finished 4th in the Steeplechase.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Congratulations and best of luck in the summer months as the Track Season continues.&nbsp;</p>
