The app is co-ordinated and updated by me, Fr Liam Kelleher, who during my first 4 years in Cobh published Cobh News Magazine every two weeks in Print form. It grew from 16 pages to 64 in full colour, with up to 100 colour pictures included in some issues.
Now retired from my priestly ministry after 52 years, I have the time and the commitment without fear or favour to give coverage to every group or organisation on the Great Island. I welcome news and pictures from all sent to my email address: liamkelleher44@gmail.com.&nbsp;

In all over 200 listings all listed by Boon Agency at a cost of €10,000 paid for by Cobh Credit Union €5,000 and Fr Liam Kelleher €5,000.
<h3>App Relaunched</h3>
The app was relaunched last summer by Ourside, the proprietors of the APP franchise, under the banner Xplore Local and is part of a growing number of towns in Ireland including Cobh, Midleton, Youghal, Fermoy, and Clonakilty in Cork. Each area was given the facility to update their own news whenever they wished. There has been no charge for inclusion up to now.
To ensure the viability going forward each commercial enterprise is invited to contribute a modest €50 for listing on the APP for a full year and that will entitle them to one free advert and the opportunity to include their own information, fantastic value when you consider a full-page advert on an A4 size magazine can cost anything from €300 upwards.
There will be no charge for charitable groups and voluntary organisations. There will be an ongoing update of those listed, so it is up to you to ensure first of all that you are listed and secondly that you will submit regular and up to date information.
After just coming back from my annual break for my college reunion in the USA, I continue my work to ensure this will be the most up to date media outlet in the country. I shared it with many friends across the USA and they were fascinated with its content and it gave them a desire to visit Cobh.

On behalf of the Ballymore community, Fr Liam Kelleher will kindly lead a Rosary For Peace at 7.30 pm this Thursday, March 3rd, at the Sacred Heart Church, Ballymore, in solidarity with the people of Ukraine. All are very welcome to attend.

<h3>Shrove Tuesday Traditions </h3>

Pancakes are eaten on Shrove Tuesday as it is traditionally the last day to get rid of all the fatty foods in the kitchen cupboard before Lent. Things like eggs, sugar and milk weren't traditionally eaten during lent so they needed to be eaten beforehand.
Pancakes feature in cookbooks dating as far back as 1439!! We look forward to welcoming you all for Ash Wednesday Mass&nbsp;&nbsp;

We celebrated Shrove Tuesday today by making some delicious pancakes!&nbsp;&nbsp;
We learned all about the procedure that needs to be successfully followed, used collaborative skills during the cooking process and kept in mind the meaning behind 'Pancake Tuesday' as it marks the start of The Season of Lent.
It's fair to say there wasn't a morsel left over!!

The girls in Ms Quinlan’s class just loved writing recipes for pancakes, discussing their favourite pancake toppings and most of all eating pancakes!

<h3>Coláiste Muire Cobh was delighted to present Ms J. Buckley with her Gaisce Civic Merit Award from President Michael D. Higgins recently. </h3>
Gaisce’s Civic Merit Award Ceremony honours President’s Award Leaders who have supported young people to take part in the Gaisce programme for more than five years.&nbsp;

Over the last 35 years of the Gaisce Award over a quarter of a million Gaisce Awards have been achieved. Behind these young people are many thousands of President's Award Leaders or PALs that have supported, encouraged and believed in young people and their potential to be the best version of themselves.&nbsp;
Over the past 5 years, over 70 students have completed their Gaisce Award in Colaiste Muire Cobh. Ms. Buckley, along with her colleagues has supported, encouraged and believed in the young people and their potential to be the best version of themselves. Countless students have benefited from their ‘can do’ attitude and our Gaisce team has been a fantastic mentor to them. The students over the past number of years have achieved Gaisce Awards through the support of their teachers and I wish to thank and congratulate Ms. Buckley for her work with these students.&nbsp;
Our new Gaisce Team are now working towards this year's award medallists getting their Bronze Award.&nbsp;
We look forward to seeing their success with the PAL's-Ms. Kiely, Ms. O' Leary, Mr. K. Barry and Mr. O' Sullivan.&nbsp;

A long overdue AGM, lots of reflection and even more forward planning tonight with our volunteers in the Commodore Hotel. A committee elected and full steam ahead with plans for the rest of the Tidy Towns year before submission of Cobh’s entry in May.&nbsp;

Accommodation is available for Homeless Irish Defence Forces Veterans - ONE provides 54 Beds for Homeless Veterans around the country, in Letterkenny, Athlone, Cobh and Dublin.
ONE’s services are available to ALL veterans of the Defence Forces, and our homes in Dublin and County Cork are available to both male and female veterans, within a safe and secure environment. From time to time, ONE will also facilitate homeless veterans from other countries living in Ireland.
Most of our veterans have had extensive service in the Defence Forces, serving with distinction both at home and on overseas missions. However, for one reason or another they now find themselves homeless and in need.
ONE currently provides accommodation (board and lodging) for approximately 54 veterans, who otherwise would be homeless.&nbsp;
Our veterans contribute on a means basis towards their keep which includes all of the facilities that one would expect in a normal home.
Our Dublin Home Brú na bhFiann is located in Smithfield and has facilities for 35 veterans. The House Managers Richard &amp; Sinead may be contacted on 01-4850600.
Our Donegal Home Brú Doire Feá (Beechwood House), is located in Letterkenny and has facilities for 7 veterans. The House Manager Aiden may be contacted on 074-9177219 or 086 603 9063.
Our Westmeath Home Brú Chostúim (Custume House), is located in Athlone and has facilities for 7 veterans. The House Manager Paddy may be contacted on 090-6450930 or 086 3359583.
Our County Cork Home Brú na Farraige, which opened in October 2021, is located in Cobh and will have facilities for 5 veterans. The House Manager John may be contacted on 083 088 2933.
Our Cork City Home Brú uí Choileáin, is being planned for 2022 and will have facilities for 6 veterans. This will bring us to 60 beds available.

The artist Marie Brett is working with us on a solo show accompanied by a publication, which includes a new, commissioned work (supported by an Arts Council Commission Award). <h2>Cobh Ramblers FC wishes to issue the following statement in relation to events at our recent home game against Wexford FC. </h2>
As a family orientated club we will not tolerate any supporter throwing objects onto the field of play or using flares. These pose serious health and safety risks.
If there is a repeat of this behaviour those responsible will be immediately ejected and banned from the ground. We welcome vocal and passionate support but health and safety are paramount and we will enforce new measures as strictly as possible.
Going forward Cobh Ramblers will operate a strict “No Bag Policy” at all events in St Colman’s Park and searching points will be in place at all entry points to the ground.
Only Handbags and Bags containing essential personal goods will be admitted into the ground. No bags or rucksacks will be permitted.
We thank supporters in advance for their co-operation and look forward to welcoming our fans to St Colman’s Park this coming Friday against Treaty United.
