The Senior Woman take on Wilton United tonight Wednesday, March 2nd, in the Intermediate cup at home with an 8.15p.m kick-off at the Stephen Ireland Astro.&nbsp;

The last time these two sides met they played out a thrilling 4-4 draw with the Cobh girls coming from 4-0 down to steal a share of the points so this promises to be a fantastic encounter.&nbsp;
The girls have added to an already young talented side in the off season bringing in experienced players Tiffany Taylor formerly of Cork City, Portsmouth and Southampton and Amy O'Reilly formerly of Cork City.

Cobh comeback falls short this time.
After a very entertaining ladies' game at Stephen Irelands' astroturf stadium on Wednesday, the local girls went 3 goals down to a more astute and direct Wilton outfit. Trailing by a goal at the short whistle, things turned on their head, in the first 5 minutes of the 2nd half courtesy of two well-executed strikes, one a brilliant header. See Picture. Cobh was left with a mountain to climb and their more direct play hereafter paid dividends with goals from Louise Bourke and Amy Kennedy. Hard as they tried they could not get back to parity as the City girls well marshalled by Barbara O'Connell held on.

This Wednesday morning we received a lovely postcard from a lady in France, she was looking for local information to prepare for her holiday here in June.
We were delighted to supply her with accommodations lists, train/bus timetables, maps and attractions, etc.

Many thanks to @lidlireland Cobh for providing us with some delicious fresh fruit before the Mid-term break. Parents association organised fresh fruit in baskets for every classroom and children enjoyed the selection of fruit as part of Taste it Tuesday in school.

Huge congratulations to our talented soccer players: Annabelle and Ruby 5th class and Chloe, Clara, Orla and Sarah in 4th class! ⚽ The girls play with Springfield Ramblers and are competing in the Under 12s National Soccer Cup Competition.
Due to their superb win on Feb 19th (3nil!!!), their team are one of 16 groups in the National Cup. Their next match is in Nenagh, Co Tipperary on March 12th. We are so proud of your sports achievements girls. Keep up the fantastic training with your team and making your school community very proud!

It was an excellent night’s basketball for two of our male teams as both teams advanced to the finals of their respective championships.&nbsp;
First up were the U18 men against West Cork rivals Skibbereen. Cobh had lost at home to Skibbereen in the first round of the league and the team knew they faced a tough battle. It looked ominous for the Cobh side as Skibbereen were quickly into their stride and 10 first-quarter points from Gabriel O’Mahony saw Skibbereen establish a 17-6 lead by the end of the quarter.&nbsp;
Two three-pointers from Sam O’Connell gave Cobh some hope in the second quarter but Skibbereen still held a 9 point lead at the halftime break.&nbsp;
The third quarter saw the beginning of the Cobh revival. 8 points apiece from Sam and Francesco Tolardo saw Cobh take control of the quarter. A 16-8 quarter featured some great three-point shooting. Mark O’Rourke was tenacious on defence creating a turnover ball that underpinned the Cobh comeback. Skibbereen’s lead was cut to 2 points by the end of the quarter, 31-29.&nbsp;
Two free throws by Luwé de Wet were followed by a great basket from Oisin Bonne and a three-pointer from Francesco. Some excellent free throw shooting from Sam kept the Cobh side in front and they closed out a great game with a 5 point victory.&nbsp;

Next up were the U20 men against local rivals East Cork Glenmary. Having not played since before Christmas and with a number of injury concerns, it wasn’t clear how the team would perform. Thankfully the team settled early with baskets from Kevin Foster O’Reilly and 2 three-pointers from Ben Kelleher. Ben, who hadn’t trained in six weeks, was in great shooting form and his 25 points was a great return.&nbsp;
One of the highlights of the game was the head to head battle between Cobh’s Kevin Foster O’Reilly and Glenmary’s Bradley Savage. 23 points and 21 points respectively featured some high-quality basketball and some great scores.&nbsp;
A high-quality first-half performance saw Cobh lead 40-19 at halftime. Josh Orji, playing with a heavily strapped ankle, was dominant on the defensive boards and his rebounding lead to many fast break opportunities for the Cobh team.&nbsp;
The pace slowed a bit in the second half. Baskets from Kevin, Adam Perryman, Luwé de Wet and three-pointers from Sam O’Connell and Francesco Tolardo saw Cobh lead 56-30 at the end of the third quarter. East Cork Glenmary rallied in the fourth quarter and some excellent play by Bradley was added to by 4 baskets from Adam O’Lomasney and baskets from Silas Waldvogel, Micheál McSweeney, Cian Keohane and Cillian Meaney.
Oisin Bonne and Shane Butler were excellent on defence for Cobh, grabbing many rebounds. Five free throws from Kevin, another three-pointer from Ben (5 overall) and a basket from Sam saw the Cobh side advance to the final to face Skibbereen.&nbsp;

Cobh &amp; Harbour Chamber are delighted to announce the formation of Cobh Toastmasters on March 7th in the Commodore Hotel at 8pm. This club is being formed by Chamber member John Keating, a Distinguished Toastmaster, the highest award Toastmasters International bestows on members.
John is a Toastmaster of 14 years and has formed Bishopstown Toastmasters, West Cork Toastmasters, Republic of Work Toastmasters and was a founding member of Dell Emc Toastmasters Forum.
Toastmasters training is cost-effective and it's fun.
When asked what Toastmasters is about, John replied “Confidence, becoming a confident communicator, before an audience of one, or 10 or 100 or more. Today every college student is required to give presentations, near every job description requires confident communication skills, to be successful in business, to be a leader of any organisation demands confident communication skills.
If you are retired and wish to develop your storytelling skills, then Toastmasters is for you. It is a skill, and like all skills, it can be learnt. Toastmasters is about learning those skills in a safe and fun club environment. I am really looking forward to starting Cobh Toastmasters and have been delighted with the support of Cobh and Harbour Chamber and the Commodore Hotel.”
