<p>Versatile athlete</p>
<p>What a versatile sportsman  Oisin is proving to be, he represented his team Rochestown College in the All-Ireland schools X country championships in Belfast the weekend before. This is the most competitive event on the x country calendar and to have  finished in the top 10 in Ireland in a field of over 100 is exceptional. Pity was his 9th place finish leading his team home did not give him enough back-up to bring his school into the top 3 in the team category, being just touched off, in 4th. Its good to see Rochestown College catering for all sports, at the weekend the school won their  Ist  ever  All-Ireland schools title winning the  Senior B  hurling cup. Oisin when he was in Primary school at Scoil Iosaef Naofa,  showed his promise when he won the East Cork Schools x country title. As far as I can make out this year was his first year running with his past primary school. The top 10 in the under 15  race in Belfast were selected to run for Ireland in the International schools x country, but there is a change in age group for the International and Oisin was 2 months overage. While soccer will remain his main sport, his running talent has impressed many people in the know and he has been invited to run with a team whenever he can.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Result from Midleton   in round 2 of the East Cork Junior football league division 1: Cobh 2-12 Midleton 4-6. Plenty to work on,  but a good result in an open game, the lads well done!</p>

<p>3 cousins took to the field today for the Junior As, left to right, Con Lynch, Cian Spriggs and Alex Lynch who made an excellent debut.</p>

<p>Cobh had a good win over Blarney 1-10 to 1-04.    Donoughmore were too strong for Clyda Rovers in the second semi final.   In the final Cobh trailed  Donoghamore by 1 point at half time.  Donoughmore went on to win however Cobh played very well.</p>

<p>A huge day for our U16A girls at the home of Cork basketball on Sunday as they overcame a spirited and always competitive Bantry side to progress of All Ireland Club Championships (AICC) in Co. Meath in a few weeks time.</p>
<p>The girls were out of the blocks quickly and managed to keep the lead throughout with excellent defence and some measured offence, with all players playing their part in a total team effort.</p>
<p>The next few weeks will be busy for the girls as we continue in the league, championship and AICC’s, but they will meet it head on and with total commitment as always… a huge thanks as always to the parents and family members for the ever-present support. 🏀</p>

<p>A Very entertaining Munster under 14 League at the Paddock Monday night under lights. In a fabulous open game of Rugby Pirates young guns pulled away in the end with 2 superb tries for an exciting win. enough to warm the cockles of your heart on a bitterly cold night.</p>

<p>The aim of a Tidy Town is to work together to make it a better place to live in. Through the Cobh Credit Union Ltd “Pride of Place Bursary” we can support community led initiatives to enhance estates or streets where you live. One of this years successful applicants Paul has transformed the area at the top of the Burma Steps. The area at the side of the path was a leaf and litter trap. He reused redundant concrete posts and reclaimed stones to edge the path and has planted an abundance of colourful pollinator friendly plants along the wall and let some areas alone to encourage resident wild flowers. Thanks so much to Paul and son Callum for completing this project in the area where they live and enhancing it for all of us and the wildlife to enjoy. These steps are used by so many as a short cut down town and a route for visitors who explore Cobh. We will all love and respect the hard work, effort and vision here.&nbsp;</p>
