Cove Sailing Club expect another vintage Quarter Tonner to join its fleet this season with the purchase of the UK yacht, 'Illegal'.
Former CSC Commodore Kieran Dorgan team is part of the syndicate to purchase the new boat that replaces their recently sold Quarter Tonner Diamond late last year.

The opposition was Clonmel Rugby Football Club. Playing with the strong southerly breeze, in an otherwise great day for a game of rugby, Pirates started the game with the focus that was evident from the start of the warm ups. Line speed in attach and defense was the order of the day, with some great running/passing rugby being displayed. Our front 5 worked as a unit, with Ben, Tadgh and Sean linking with the backline at every opportunity. Fly half and Captain, Aaron Quirke ran the attack mixing quick hands with clever kicking to keep Pirates going forward. Casey Whelan, Jack Worrall and Ben Murphy were among the scorers in the opening half that gave Pirates a commanding advantage heading into the second half, and into the strong breeze. Clonmel opened the 2nd half with a re-lit fire in the bellies, crossing over for 2 ties in the opening 10 minutes. Pirates settled and displayed some fantastic efforts in defense, with Rían McGrath and Aaron Quirke adding further tries to Pirates final score.&nbsp;
Thanks to Clonmel for being great hosts, and best of luck in the remainder of your season.&nbsp;
The lads are back at base camp in the Paddocks next Saturday, with a 1 pm kickoff against Limerick side Young Munster RFC.

Since the establishment of SIRIUS in the former headquarters of the Royal Cork Yacht Club that we have been offering professional development opportunities to artists through commissions and residencies with the operating support of the Arts Council (as well as Cork County Council). Residencies were key to our original vision, and we have been a place for artists to work since our foundational years. In 1994, the first resident was James Turrell, a luminary of the field of art. Turrell was invited by Peter Murray, who spearheaded the creation of SIRIUS. He took this photograph depicting Turrel at West Skeam Island, which we keep in our archive. Turrel's connection to SIRIUS set our ambition for the years to follow, and demonstrates the value of public funding to the arts.

&nbsp;it's a very sad reflection on our leaders to prevent pain relief for a baby in the last few weeks of full term is appalling. The people trusted them over this alleged pandemic when the truth comes out, as it now seems to be over and this Government allowed people to die ALONE many with no Covid...suicide, mental health. Small business destroyed with a two year alleged death rate of 6000 against a two year annual death rate for Ireland of 60,000. We have a government that have no respect for our constitution and the people of this country.
<h3>Cobh Hospital</h3>
2021 was a busy but sad year for us .We bid farewell to one of our members who was with us from 2009 when the knitting group was set up. Rest in peace dear friend Mary Carmody, your knitting was of the highest standard and your smile lit up our Wednesday mornings at the hospital with the residents. Mary loved to play at our annual 45 fundraiser in Cobh GAA we miss you dearly Mary.&nbsp;
While Covid didn’t allow us to attend our weekly gathering at the hospital through out most of 2021 we are thrilled to be back with a lot of new members welcome ladies and gentleman. More volunteers are very welcome.&nbsp;
We would like to welcome our working from home knitters. crocheters and crafters who joined us this year and thanks to our long time members who continue to make beautiful produce for us. These are on display in press at entrance to hospital and orders can be given to any member of the group or by messaging this page.&nbsp;
We raised €8561 through our online auction on the Sharing is Caring page set up by Wioletta Franiel-Bocheńska and €6857.50 on our sales. This money goes towards enhancing the lives of the residents. Donations of wool buttons needles greatly appreciated please remember us when considering a baby present or a gift in the coming year. The British Titanic Society is pleased to announce that the 2022 Annual Convention will be held at the Commodore Hotel, Cobh, County Cork, Ireland, from Thursday April the 7th to Sunday April the 10th 2022.
The weekend’s programme will include lectures by prominent Titanic historians and visits to local Titanic and maritime historical places of interest, as well as our ever popular Gala Dinner.

Daniela Ortiz (b. 1985, Peru) examines nationalism, class and gender divides, racism, and the construction of identity amid the contemporary legacies of colonialism and patriarchy. She is known for using her own lived experience as subject matter, for instance motherhood, displacement, feminist engagement, and the production of deviant and insurgent subjectivity.

 Here is an extract from ‘Anti-Colonial Monuments: An Interview with Daniela Ortiz’, which was published by Berlin Art Link in August 2020: “In the ‘ABCs of Racist Europe’, it was very important for me to create a glossary, to re-analyze many of the terms. On the one hand, it seemed important for me to generate this situation of analysis and, on the other hand, it also seemed very important to enter into children’s literature, which is another of the great fields that reproduces this racism, using super innocent language. Books, for example, that tell you that when Columbus arrived in America it was a meeting of two worlds: they sweeten a situation of violence. They do not tell children that the colonial process was a process of plunder and death. It was not a process of multiculturalism, nor of friendship. Those narratives normalize the colonial system, to the point that when you question figures like Columbus, many people reply: “we did you a favor, you were in loincloths, and we brought you culture, we brought you the language”. Because through children’s books, university studies and the media, they have constructed this entire story that is absolutely false.” 
 
Daniela Ortiz’s exhibition ‘They Will Burn with the Flame of the Mother’s Torment and in Ashes Transform, produced by SIRIUS (and on view until 19 February), features works concerned with racist and patriarchal attitudes and practices, both historical and contemporary.
