We are thrilled to be able to welcome you all back to our three Parish churches to for these ceremonies this year, after an absence of two years.&nbsp;
Our schedule starts on Sunday, with Palm Sunday and finished with our Easter Sunday Masses on April 17th.&nbsp;

In April 2019 we took over the duties of running our parade for St Patrick's Day.
The previous Committee ran the parade successfully for 10 year's and we were proud and excited in thanking the previous Committee for there amazing community service running the parade for so many year's and handing over the reins to us.
We put so much effort into making 2020 St Patrick's Day a day to remember for our children and greater community. Then just a week before our national day in 2020 we as a committee decided to cancel the event with covid numbers starting to rise.
2 years later with restrictions lifted giving us several weeks to make an event happen, we put our plan into action and worked our backsides off behind the scenes to give our community a day to finally come together and celebrate, a day our community deserved!!
And boy what a day we had here on the Great Island. The sun shone brightly and their was barely any wind later in the evening to give us a stunning fireworks display to finish off what we consider to be the greatest St Patrick's Day we have experienced.&nbsp;
We have been overwhelmed with the appreciation our community has shown us since the event and we "Thank you" all so very very much for the support and kind words.

Another busy schedule for the Club, with most age grades competing over the weekend.

The weekend kicks off with the newly crowned Munster Champions back at the Paddocks hosting Sunday's Well in the U18 SM Cup on Friday at 7:30pm KO.
Saturday will see the 14s host Douglas in the Cup at 12 noon, while the U9,10,11 &amp;12s are away at various Mini Blitzs earlier in the morning.
Sunday will hopefully get off to a good start with the 13s hosting Fermoy in the Paddocks at 11am while the U16s will travel in the opposite direction to compete in the Plate competition at 1pm. All roads lead to Midleton, Towns Park for the afternoon game, 2:30pm KO, where the J1s after securing the Munster Junior League section last weekend, will now renew local rivalries in the derby semi-final of the Munster Junior Plate.

<h3>New prize categories - weekend competitions</h3>
This weekend sees a return to 18 hole competitions. For a trial period, the men's club have changed how prizes are allocated. This is done with a view to members playing according to their handicap and against members with similar handicaps.
There was also a change to how prizes are funded. For 18 holes, members pay €8. €3 goes straight to the management committee to service our credit union loan. The remaining €5 is split 50/50 between prize fund and men's club. These changes were brought before and agreed by members at our last AGM.
NEW PRIZE STRUCTURE
Overall Winner Overall Runner up.
We then split into first and second place for each of the four categories listed below giving a total of 10 prices per standard competition. Other Competitions such as Captains Presidents, Memorials etc will not change to new format.
Category One: Playing Handicap less than and including 7
Category Two: Playing Handicap 8 to 13
Category Three: Playing Handicap 14 to 19
Category Four: Playing Handicap 20 and above.
As this is a trial basis members feedback Is appreciated. Men's club will review this on an ongoing bases and will communicate with members if there are any adjustments required.
The categories above are based on current numbers playing handicaps and may vary with new members joining or members leaving.

<h2>Good news from Brittany Ferries</h2>
<h2>Brittany Ferries has confirmed that its new midweek sailing connecting Cork with France will become a permanent feature of the company’s sailing schedule, further reinforcing the company’s long term commitment to Ireland, Irish tourism and the Port of Cork.</h2>

The Wednesday sailing is part of a new three year deal signed by the Port of Cork Company (PoCC) and Brittany Ferries that was revealed at a reception held on board the M.V. Armorique vessel which docked in Ringaskiddy, Cork today, Wednesday April 6th.
The event was hosted by Brittany Ferries President, Jean-Marc Roué, Honorary Consul of Ireland in Brittany and celebrated the strong commercial partnership that it has shared with PoCC for 45 years. Also in attendance was Brittany Ferries Chief Executive, Christophe Mathieu as well as senior representatives from the Port of Cork Company, Tourism Ireland, Fáilte Ireland and local business and tourism stakeholders.
The new overnight weekly Roscoff M.V. Armorique sailing, which is additional to the popular Pont Aven, the flagship of the Brittany Ferries fleet which sails on Saturdays to Roscoff, enhances the options for passengers and will cater for the high demand and bookings already being seen for the route for 2022 and beyond.

Spring is definitely in the air and a recent visit to the Bible garden at the Benedictine convent made for a wonderful experience. During a short visit I met some lovely interesting people. Enjoying a cuppa, at the tea room I met a lady a native of Boherbue now living in Carrigaline and she asked me to say a special prayer for her son who left his post as a doctor, to study for the priesthood with the Dominican order, that was a very positive good news story.&nbsp;

I visited the garden and what I thought was a few short weeks ago i saw potatoes being planted with the drills made by hand and now in the indoor environment the growth was remarkable.&nbsp;
Then I went to the main public garden and met two ladies from Mexico who were fascinated by the peace and tranquillity and apart from the cathedral, they confided that it was the highlight of their visit to Cobh.Uplifted by their observations, you wonder how many people from the Great island visit this gem regularly to experience what the Mexicans experienced?
