Johanna Murphy is President of @cobhchamber since 2021and an established Real Estate Agent for the 25 years in Cobh. Johanna is self employed and has been running her own business Johanna Murphy &amp; Sons Estate agents for 18 years.&nbsp;&nbsp;
Her role as President of Cobh and Harbour is one of representation, leadership, stakeholder and community engagement. Johanna has an enormous passion for the Cobh and indeed the lower Harbour’s and really excited to be involved in its steady growth.&nbsp;&nbsp;
At 8pm on Thursday, 10th March, Johanna will tell us "Why we need more women Leaders" and why we need to #breakthebias around women in leadership positions.&nbsp;

Last week our TY Group also visited The Cookery Cottage in Cork during their Activity Week where they cooked up some storms!&nbsp;
They learned how to make some tasty dishes including-spice bag chips, naan bread, chicken curry and cupcakes for dessert.&nbsp;
While at the Cookery Cottage our students gained an insight into a culinary career and they also gained some important life skills.&nbsp;
Many thanks to everyone involved in our trips to the Cookery Cottage, great days were had by all.&nbsp;
<h3>BASKETBALL</h3>
&nbsp;It was a busy weekend for our female teams with three games over the weekend. First up were the Premier Ladies who were away on Saturday night to Brunell.&nbsp;
Brunell opened up an early lead with Alison Kearney causing problems inside. Three baskets from Mia Tarrant were added to by Zara Smith and Orlaith Finn and Cobh trailed by 1 point at the end of the quarter.&nbsp;
The second quarter was equally close. Baskets from Amy Duggan, a three pointer from Orlaith, two from Anna Ring and another from Zara gave Cobh a 15-12 quarter and a 2 point half time lead.&nbsp;
With Jane Palmer, Eimear Diggin and Zara doing a great job defending the key, the third quarter was a low scoring affair. A three pointer from Amy was added to by Zara and Eimear and Cobh held a 1 point lead, 32-31 heading into the last quarter.&nbsp;
A great finish by Mia on a fast break was added to by three free throws from Amy. A huge three pointer from Amy was followed by an excellent outside shot from Orlaith and this gave Cobh the upper hand in the last quarter. At the end of a great game, Cobh emerged victorious on a score of 42-36.&nbsp;

Sunday saw our U13B team and our U14A team at home in Coláiste Muire.&nbsp;
First up, our U13B team were pitted against harbour rivals, Crosshaven. The first quarter was extremely close. A basket from Isla Taft opened the scoring for Cobh. Two baskets each from Aoibhinn Anderson and Naoise Ryan gave Cobh a one point lead at the end of the quarter.
The second quarter saw Cobh open up a nine point lead. 10 points from Erin Hornibrook were added to with baskets from Lily Quinlan and Alex Horgan. The half-time score was 25-19 in favour of the Cobh team.
The third quarter was another close affair with Crosshaven shooting well from the free throw line while Naoise was the dominant player for Cobh in this quarter scoring all 14 points. Isabelle O’Connell also impressed for Cobh with some excellent passes.
Aaron, Aileen, and Ciara Ronan added baskets in the final quarter to leave Cobh as the victors on a scoreline of 46-34.&nbsp;

The second match on Sunday featured our U14A team who hosted visitors Brunell.&nbsp;
Ella O’Brien opened the scoring for Cobh and this was added to by two free throws from Lucy Sheridan. Lucy Walsh scored 8 points and Lucy Sheridan added another 4 to give Cobh a 18-6 lead at the end of the quarter.&nbsp;
Some excellent defensive pressure by Isabella Bardsley lead to her scoring six points at the start of the second quarter. With Francesca Kyamagero showing tremendous athleticism, Cobh dominated this quarter and had a comfortable lead by halftime. A particular highlight was a left-handed pass off the dribble from Maebh Deavy which lead to a layup by Francesca.&nbsp;
Sonia Balanzin took over the scoring at the start of the third quarter. Eight points from Sonia were added to by Isabelle as Cobh continued to dominate. Some excellent passing from Emily Ring lead to some nice baskets while Ava Quinlan was very solid defensively. The final quarter saw Maebh get the basket her industry deserved and Cobh ran out worthy winners.&nbsp;
&nbsp;IRISH WOMEN ABROAD

Irishman Abroad is co-hosted by three extremely powerful Irish women abroad. On this International Women’s Day I want to shout out and give respect to @soniagrith, @tinasparklepants and Marion McKeone. I’d be absolutely lost without them. Whether it’s running, parenting or understanding politics, Sonia, Tina &amp; Marion make everything easier and inspire me and our listeners every single episode. They are also good at putting me in my place when I’m talking nonsense. Thanks to them today and all the women working in broadcasting who make the great content we all take for granted so much of the time. #InternationalWomensDay2022

Last week, our school community stood in solidarity with the people of Ukraine by wearing Ukrainian Colours 🇺🇦
Our school community was also delighted to support a supply drive by working with others around Cobh to help provide essential items to those in Ukraine. Well done to the following for also taking part: @colaistemuirecobh @carrignafoycol @supervalu_irl @lidlireland 
We will continue to keep the people of Ukraine in our thoughts at this time 🇺🇦
