&nbsp;It was a glorious morning for all ages to be out to enjoy our wildlife walk at Cuskinny Bay &amp; Lagoon with Jim Wilson.&nbsp;
Captivating information for everything we were lucky to see.To name a few -
Brent Geese,Buzzards,Swans, Oyster catchers ,
Moorhen, Black headed gulls,Curlews,Mallard ducks,Little egret,Grey heron, Cormorants and Little grebe!&nbsp;
Some highly recommended guides to our Irish wildlife and many questions answered in relation to Cuskinny and the beautiful birds living and visiting there.&nbsp;
Sincere thanks to Jim for taking us around and encouraging us to get out our binoculars and take in the wonderful wildlife on our doorstep at BWI Cuskinny Marsh Nature Reserve

Congratulations to Amy Duggan of @cobhbasketball Panel of 16 named for Ireland U18 Women's team by Head coach for the Ireland U18 Women's team Tommy O'Mahony has named the 16 players who will go through to the next phase.
Three of the players selected hail from Liffey Celtics (Niamh O'Leary, Emily O'Dwyer and Niamh Sherlock), while two players remain in the squad from Waterford Wildcats (Caitlin Gloeckner and Sarah Hickey). There are nine uncapped players in the squad, which include Tara Nevin, Amy Duggan COBH , Micaiah Fubara, Rachel Callery, Niamh Sherlock, Niamh Tolan, Erica Egan, Niamh O'Leary and Emily O’Dwyer.&nbsp;
Caitlin Gloeckner, Rebecca Sexton, Bree Shelley and Lucy Devoy all capped atthe FIBA u16 European Challengers last summer, meanwhile Maria Kealy and Lucy Coogan capped at the FIBA u18 in European Challengers. Sarah Hickey, capped at u16 and u18, is in line to reach her 25th Cap for Ireland in the upcoming competition.
Speaking on the selection process was head coach Tommy O'Mahony; “The squad have been putting in some tremendous work over the last few months to reach this stage and we are happy with the current squad and we feel that there will be a lot of tough decisions to make over the next few months. We head to Wales in April for games against England, Scotland and Wales, which should provide a lot of players with their first taste of the international game. We understand we have a lot of work to do and are eager to step up our preparation for our Euros in Austria this August."

HUGE FINAL THIRD OF THE SEASON FOR SPRINGFIELD 
As the Premier A weekend fixtures conclude, Springfield’s commanding Friday night win coupled with a win for Corkbeg AFC against Castleview and an entertaining 2-2 draw of fellow promotion hopefuls Greenwood and Donoughmore in Togher yesterday evening, see the Cobh men go joint top of the league with 6 games to play. The Cobh side are under no illusions that they have 3 more games played than their key three promotion rivals, however sometimes it is better to have the points on the board than the games in hand! Any other year would see Springfield (and all Cobh teams for that matter) having a backlog of fixtures at this stage of the season due to inclement weather and unplayable pitches, with many a title slipping from Springfields grasp in yesteryear due to playing three games weekly come March/April time and suffering from playing and travel fatigue. However it is a testament to Cobh 4 Football and the Stephen Ireland Astroturf facility that the club has been able to put points on the board at this vital time of the 2021/2022 season.&nbsp;
Springfield are in their third season of their new management cycle, where the squad have been one of the most unluckiest as a result of COVID-19, where a strong squad was assembled by management since 2019, whom trained like a professional outfit and played some of the best football seen in Pat O'Brien Park for many a year, with success and silverware in their grasp until two untimely endings to both seasons. However it is a testament to management and the remaining squad to still be battling for honours this season. The integration of the U18 Springfield Ramblers team from the beginning of the season was vital for not only the youth players development but it also helped the senior team fill gaps in availability until senior players returned from injury. It is an exciting time for the club and these young players as we look forward to seeing them progress to senior football with Springfield in the preceding years. It must be noted that the clubs Youth team, whom had no manager to begin their season and when all looked ominous for the squad now top their league with 4 games to play.

The 2021/2022 season saw an awful start from the senior team where an opening day defeat to Castleview was followed up by a 6-1 drubbing at the hands of promotion rivals Greenwood. However since that heavy defeat, when serious questions were being asked, the team answered them and have gone on to play a further 8 league games achieving 7 wins (88% win percentage) and scoring 34 goals (4.25 goals per game) and conceding only 3, with 7 clean sheets. Although the entire squad is now well and truly galvanised, special mention at this point in the season must go to League Golden Boot leader Shane Geasley who has now scored 12 league goals in 10 games as well as second in League Golden Boot Domagoj Mickelsevic, who although signed later in the season has scored 12 goals in all competitions with nearly as many assists to boot! The back line with 7 clean sheets in 8 games has also been outstanding with many differing back 4 line ups taking to the field as a result of unavailability and injury.&nbsp;
Sunday morning (6th March) sees Springfield play their most important game of the season thus far, against their promotion rivals and a huge 6 pointer where the Cobh men will seek to solidify their current top spot position and also seek revenge for their early season 6-1 shock defeat. Game kicks off at 10.45am at Pat O Brien Park.&nbsp;

We welcomed Blarneys premier division side to Cobh in the last 16 of the Una Moore Cup. Blarney started really well with some excellent football, Springfield Ramblers setup well and defended really well as a team. Blarney kept pushing and really tested Lily Walsh Curley on 6 occasions but Lily pulled off some amazing saves. Blarney went one up with 5 mins to go in first half. Springfield struggled to create many chances in the first half Gwyn Murphy causing some problems for Blarney but they took the 1-0 lead into the second half. Blarney started the second half really strong and again, Lily Walsh Curley had a lot of work to do, with some superb goalkeeping. Blarney made it two with an amazing strike from there number 9. Springfield had a of defending to do throughout the second half. Blarney really showed some quality football and scored another two quick goals.&nbsp;
Well done to Blarney and best of luck in next round.&nbsp;

&nbsp;In recent days, we all have been shocked and saddened to see the images from Ukraine.
From Monday 28th of February to Friday 4th of March we will be collecting items to send to the people affected by the war in Ukraine. Items donated will be collected and transported in a container to Poland to help the people of Ukraine, any donation counts.

MID-WEEK MERCURIAL MOMENTUM AT THE MARDYKE Ballymore Cobh A.C.&nbsp;
Mid-term break and a mid-week shake to make sure our BCAC Tiger's legs are awake.&nbsp;
A full-on 400m repeats session was executed with gusto by our Tigers in attendance at the Sonia O'Sullivan Track in the excellent facility that is the Mardyke Arena this week.&nbsp;
Book-ended by the all-important dynamic stretching techniques employed by our Tigers coaches, Dave Barrett and Shane Meyler, and static stretching at close of business time, this valuable training session blew out any potential cobwebs that may have set in over the preceding days.
Kudos to those in attendance who put in a mighty shift in what were gale-force conditions, as our Tigers continue to step it up week on week in their training block, with the summer Track &amp; Field season their short term target.&nbsp;
Marvellous efforts from Caoimhe, Bridget, Ava, Sarah, James, Paddy, Charlie, Cian, Keelan, Lee and Luke.

Today Monday Taoiseach Micheál Martin officially launched Fota Wildlife Park’s 10-year development plan, which includes a €30 million investment proposal to become one of the top 10 wildlife parks in Europe in terms of species conservation and expanding its education and public engagement offering. 
The aims of the 2030 Vision Plan are to expand our number of species breeding programmes and to redevelop and expand the Education Complex. The proposal also aims to increase the levels of environmental sustainability across the entire operation, continue the commitment to excellence in animal care and welfare and provide a holistic visitor experience that allows for an authentic connection to conservation in action.
