<h2>&nbsp;Cobh Parish Confirmations</h2>

<p>On Tuesday and Wednesday Bishop William Crean administered the Sacrament of Conformation to the boys and girls from 6th class from the schools in the parish. Walterstown,  Gael Scoil Ui Eigeartaigh,  Bun Scoil Rinnan Chabhlaigh , Scoil Iosaef Naofa and St Mary's. It was the first time in three years that Bishop Crean  presided because of the pandemic the Sacrament was administered by the priests in the parish for the pas t 2 years. He was joined  for the confirmations by Fr Tom McDermott ADM, Fr Aquin Casey, Fr Paul Bennett and Fr Liam Kelleher. The occasion was blessed with two beautiful days weather wise. A packed St Colman's cathedral for the 3 ceremonies on Tuesday and Wednesday was  another indication of the freedom we are enjoying again after the difficult time we have all experienced.  Congratulations to all the boys and girls, to their families, their teachers, their schools. Thanks to all who made it possible the parish Office staff, the members of the choir and their accompanists. This great day hopefully will mark a continued renewal in the lives of the children and their families in their faith journey helped with the power of the Holy Spirit. Hopefully  it will be reflected in the increase in numbers attending the liturgical services in the church, particularly for the weekly masses, where attendances for a long time were missing and even  when things improved, they were still curtailed. Thankfully    now we are free and we must thank the Lord for brining us  through a most difficult time and always remember those who did not make it, and have gone to their eternal reward,</p>

<p>This week the Flag of Brittany is hoisted alongside the Irish tricolour at Gaelscoil Uí Éigeartaigh as the school forges links with a primary school in Brittany.  These links arise from a common Celtic heritage and a pre-existing twinning arrangement between the Breton town of Ploermel and Cobh.</p>
<p>Two teachers from Ploermel (Christine le Bouquin and Marie -Jeanne Annee)  are spending the week at Gaelscoil Uí Éigeartaigh sampling Irish school life while also helping the children draw comparisons between their respective regions and schools.</p>
<p>The visitors attended Gaelscoil Uí Éigeartaigh's Confirmation Ceremony on Tuesday May 3rd in St. Colman's Cathedral and joined in the parish celebrations.&nbsp;</p>
<p>They also hope to support the Gaelscoil at a challenge hurling match later in the week as the school prepares to participate in its upcoming 'Sciath na Scol' Hurling Final in Páirc Uí Rinn, Cork.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Musical performances, dance, a Puppet Show, opportunities for communication through the French language as well as discussions around bilingualism and minority languages all feature on the programme for the week in what is a truly enriching, cultural learning experience for all involved.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Come join us this Sunday for Cobh junior parkrun, it’s suitable for anyone aged 4-14 years of age and it’s great fun. We will be at the track from 9, the warm up starts at 9.20 and the run will start at 9.30 am, we would love to see you all there.</p>
