<p>The Square was buzzing with various musical acts paying tribute to the late Barry O'Mahony &amp; crowds gathered at St Colmans Cathedral for a glimpse of "Gaia"</p>

<p>Bringing the kids to see the unmissable Gaia installation in the cathedral this week? Here’s how to make a day of it.</p>
<p>Get the train down. The train from the city is hourly and is takes 30 mins. The novelty of being on the train and the stunning route will kick the fun off in style.</p>
<p>Pop into the Sirius. You’ll be passing the Sirius Arts Centre  on your way from the train station. Pop in to the small, free gallery for a few minutes to see the current thought-provoking exhibitions from artists Marie Brett and Fiona Kelly.</p>
<p>Refuel at the Promenade. Right next to the Sirius lies the promenade, a canon and playground-packed park with plenty of seats, a coffee truck, and views that make the perfect photo backdrop. There are plenty of cafes nearby if you fancy a bite.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Scale West View. This mighty hill is just asking to be raced up, and the colourful gravity-defying stacked houses make great scenery when you’re catching your breath. Take the second turn off on the right near the top and you’ll be facing St Colman's Cathedral, Cobh&nbsp;</p>
<p>Peaceful picnic. After having your mind blown by the stunning installation, grab what you need for a picnic in the nearby Spar or cafes, then head over to St. Benedict's Priory, Cobh, Ireland. Bible Gardens. This hidden gem of park is the perfect place to relax. The secret gardens, ponds, trees, and cats (there’s always a cat) will keep the kids busy while you take a breather on the many benches.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Stand in awe at the enormous liner. Head back towards the town taking the Spy Hill route. You’ll suddenly confront the huge liner that’s currently docked as you make your way down (at last!) the hill. Get a closer look when you get back to Cobh, The Queenstown Story at Cobh Heritage Centre (the same building as the train station). Stay on the water front and keep walking.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Aim for the playground. Take a few selfies in front of the giant butterfly murals and walk towards the playground. Cobh Tidy Towns have been busy rejuvenating the waters edge walkway. If you time it well you might be lucky enough to get on top of one of the railway bridges as one of the trains arrives or leaves. Wheeee! Now it’s to the playground.</p>
<p>Cool down at the beach. After letting the kids run riot in the huge, modern playground, take a stroll a little further to White Point’s stony beach to skim some stones across the water.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Ready to go home? Rushbrooke Train Station is about 10 minutes walk away. if you still have some energy to burn, stroll back into town and grab dinner in one of the many restaurants.</p>
<p>Ps if you’re driving down, we highly recommend parking the car at the Five Foot Way car park (between the heritage centers and the playground).&nbsp;</p>

<p>Well done to Chloe Cashman and her Cork u14 teammates on their victory today in Waterford. Cork beat  Kerry, Tipperary and Waterford  in the earlier rounds and had a great win against Tipperary again in the final. Well done Chloe&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>What a weekend!! A fantastic time was had by all our Cubs, Scouts and Ventures at Group Camp in Ballyhass Lakes. We arrived Friday evening, set up camp, had supper and then an earlyish night! On Saturday morning after breakfast the whole Scout and Venture section plus leaders went for a refreshing swim in the lake, following on from which Cubs went kayaking while Scouts and Ventures enjoyed competing at archery. After lunch and some games it was off to the Aqua Park for the whole group for plenty of watery fun. We had a big dinner, some chill out time and games, then a campfire, s’mores and bedtime. It was an early start this morning for another quick swim followed by breakfast and striking the campsite, an investiture for Scouts and then home. It was a much quieter bus journey back to Cobh, that’s for sure! Thanks to all the leaders who gave up their weekend to ensure that Cubs Scouts and Ventures enjoyed a great weekend making many happy memories with their friends. Huge thanks also Lidl Ireland and Lidl Ireland who happened to be running a charity event for #twistedforjigsaw for Jigsaw. They very generously shared huge amounts of their food with us to make the trip extra special with full bellies.</p>

<p>We are very proud of our 'Cork Schools Garden Project' entry. The project aims to support pupils and teachers in Cork City and County to bring nature, wildlife, plants and colour into their school grounds, to promote horticulture and biodiversity and to give students a chance to interact with the environment and nature in a positive way.</p>
<h3>Munster  High Jump silver for Ava</h3>
<p>One of the most dedicated athletes you could find anywhere Ava Chandler Ballymore-Cobh AC captured the silver medal under 15 at the Munster Championships at MTU Bishopstown in Cork today Sunday. In very difficult conditions Ava Jumped 1.41m, after finishing 4th in the Co she has shown remarkable improvement. Thanks to Bun Scoil Rinn an Chabhlaigh in Rushbrooke where she was able to train indoor for the past 2 weeks. Now she can look forward to the All-Ireland Finals in Tullamore in 2 weeks time. great credit must go to her parents for the wonderful support they have been to her.</p>
