<h3>Cobh girls East Cork Champions</h3>

<p>Brilliant win for the Under 14 girls in the East Cork Final at Ballinacurra to day. The final score Cobh 3-6 Youghal 1-6. Cobh playing with a strong breeze were on top in the first half using the wind to their advantage to build up a 2 goal lead at the interval 2-5 to O-5. Whether that would be enough was the burning question. The question was answered emphatically after the break. Youghal came forward in attacking waves but the defense from goalkeeper out did a terrific job and while it can be dangerous to mention names no 5 Rachel Barrett was the outstanding player on view and looks the part to be a Cork player in the future. Scores were at a premium just 2 flags raised  by each team. Cobh got a point from a free with 15 minutes elapsed. Then the mettle of Cobh was tested when Youghal after one of their many raids raised the green flag.  Nerves were settled when after gaining possession Lucy Walsh ran at the Youghal defense and planted the ball in the net. Cobh held on to the end to claim a well deserved victory to the delight of their big following and the management team, well rewarded for their commitment to the team. This win will be a huge boost to the club.</p>

<p>All at Cove B.C are proud of Saoirse O Riordan who boxed in the semi finals of the Jr. Cadets today at the national stadium. Good technical performance from Saoirse and although we felt she did enough, was on the wrong end of a split decision. Big things to come from this young boxer in the future&nbsp;</p>
<h3>Cobh Ramblers Statement</h3>
<p>Cobh Ramblers FC have this morning amicably agreed to part ways with first team manager Darren Murphy and his backroom staff.</p>
<p>We would like to sincerely thank Darren and his management team for their integrity, love for the club, their very hard work and their consistent desires to improve performances and results.&nbsp;</p>
<p>We sincerely wish them all the very best for the future. The board will now begin the process of appointing a successor to Darren. An interim manager will be appointed in the coming days and will take responsibility for team matters ahead of our upcoming games.</p>

<p>Well done to Cobh’s Luke McDonnell on Lifting the Schoolboys Football Association of Ireland Kennedy Cup today for Cork Schoolboys League. Only the third time Cork have won the competition and the first time since 1989. Well done Luke</p>

<p>When the project Layer by Layer with Cobh YCMA started, I experienced a specific moment of nervousness mixed with excitement. I was looking forward to meeting a group of young people who I would introduce to artists, new ways of art making and self-expression. But I was sure, that they would enjoy themselves while creating and making new connections with their tutors Darn Thorn, Ciara Rodgers and Deirdre Breen.&nbsp;</p>
<p>While all of us introduced each other shyly during the first workshop back in November 2021, I immediately felt that our newly connected group would get along really well. I think these feelings of not knowing what’s going to happen and if people are going to enjoy it, are part of why I my profession as museum educator; becoming part of a group dynamic, reading other people’s faces, learning what their gestures mean and how they present themselves, how they laugh, how they need a little bit more guidance one day, a little bit of a push the next, and some encouragement to take a road they haven’t taken them before, and sometimes just quiet presence.&nbsp;</p>
<p>With artists at the group’s and by my side, it was delightful to watch the young people experiment with different types of art materials, and see them grow together as a group. I’m incredibly proud of these young people and the work that they produced, and cannot wait to launch their online publication in July.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Spending this invaluable time with the young people from Cobh YMCA, made me realise how nervousness and excitement help me to build relationships that last.</p>

<p>Belvelly Residents have been out enhancing their village and our gateway to Great Island. They’ve been busy with creative planters repurposed from old tyres and hanging baskets along the walls which will have the area even more gorgeous during the summer months. To add to it we hired a road sweeper early this morning to do some key routes around town including Belvelly Bridge and the Ticknock Approach. Well done to all the neighbours at Belvelly for their work.</p>
