<h3>Commodore Choir</h3>

<p>Commodore Male Choir is a community choir and very much part of the cultural heritage of Cobh. We attend many annual Commemorations, Lusitania, Titanic, Sea Sunday to name a few. Originally formed in the early sixties by the workers of Verolme Cork Dockyard we were later to become Cork Harbour Choir on the closure of that industry bringing in workers of Irish Steel. This facility also closed and the late Patrick O Shea of the Commodore Hotel offered us a home in 1987. Hence the name and they have been more than generous ever since and we plan to mark this milestone with a concert before the end of this year.</p>
<p>Our repertoire is varied, anything from Musical Theatre, Opera, Folk, Gospel, Sea Shanty with the main focus being the enjoyment of singing and social interaction.</p>
<p>We had planned this trip to Waterford three years ago but, unfortunately Covid intervened and we are excited and honoured to be part of this concert  together with our Conductor par excellence, Waterford native Ben Jacob. Looking forward to singing for the Waterford public and any fellow Cobhites and Corkonians living in that beautiful city. Come along and enjoy.</p>

<p>Cobh under 14 girls pictured  after beating Lisgoold 6-10 to 3-7 in the u14 East Cork league semi final. A great performance well done  to all the girls. Looking forward to the final, this coming weekend&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>The last Beaver meeting of the year was spent on the water, with plenty of splashy fun for all (though some got wetter than others! 🙈 🌊) Have a fantastic summer guys, see you in September&nbsp;</p>

<p>Our classes really enjoyed creating and designing their own books over the past number of weeks. Each child created a design and wrote a page relating to a theme set by the entire class!</p>
<p>No doubt there will be lots of reading and memories attached to these books for many years to come! 🌟</p>

<p>The award for Juvenile Club Member of the Month of May goes to...</p>
<p>Caoimhe Carolan! Caoimhe, one of our senior juvenile athletes, had a very productive May -</p>
<p>Cork County T&amp;F Championships: bronze in the 800m, 1500m and 3000m! South Munster Schools T&amp;F Championships: silver in the 1500m .</p>
<p>Munster Schools T&amp;F Championships: bronze in the 1500m including a 5:02:87 personal best.</p>
<p>Irish Schools National T&amp;F Championships: 7th place in the 1500m National Final.</p>
<p>Caoimhe leaves no stone unturned in her endeavours to improve as an athlete. Unassuming and attentive, Caoimhe is a most worthy award winner, we're sure you'll agree.</p>
<p>A voucher courtesy of Keen On Sport, Cobh, and a much sought-after BCAC kit bag (not yet available in retail outlets) are being despatched to this young lady post-haste.</p>

<h4>&nbsp;Adult club member for May is an ultra enthusiastic  runner and our club PRO Jenny Costa.</h4>
<p>Jenny’s positive energy permeates all that she does and has a can do attitude that has seen her compete this year  in cross country and a 10 miler, distances that were new to this lady who normally favours a 200km jaunt!</p>
<p>Running on road, off road across the Burren  terrain and taking in some of the wild Atlantic way for good measure, Jenny was the 5th woman home in the challenging Clare Burren marathon on May 28th. How do you follow that?</p>
<p>Well if you’re Jenny you take on Irelands highest peak the following weekend to finish 6th woman home in the Carrauntoohil Irish mountain running association series.</p>
<p>Jenny likes to mix it up with speed sessions too and on Tuesday nights, her blond ponytail acts as a beacon of hope for those of us behind her! She’s a great support to fellow club members at training cheering us on to push through the pain and her enthusiasm for running is infectious. Well done Jenny</p>

<p>You might have noticed the arrival of 4 new bins in the Promenade recently. We were delighted to welcome the Mayor of Cork County Councillor Gillian Coughlan to launch the bins today along with Derek Davis Sales Director Bigbelly Bins and Cobh MD Councillors Sineád Sheppard, Cathal Rasmussen, Sheila O’Callaghan and Seán O’ Connor. 4 year old Oscar O’Caoimh played a blinder helping the Mayor to use the new bins! These compactor bins for general waste hold 8 times more than our current street bins and when full communicate to the council that they need to be emptied. The crows will be very disappointed they cannot get at the contents anymore and we are delighted that there should be a lot less mess generated by our feathered friends in the park.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Please use the recycling area by the toilets for compostable food packaging,food waste,plastic bottles, cans,cardboard and glass. The Big Belly Bins can be used for materials other than these including cigarette butts  in the integrated butt bin. Thank you to Cork County Council for this fantastic initiative to keep our beautiful Promenade litter free and our litter warden Clodagh Meade for driving the anti litter programme here.&nbsp;</p>

<p>6th Class hosted today's Cake Sale in Aid of Cobh Red Cross who are raising money to buy an ambulance.🚑&nbsp;</p>
<p>Volunteers from the Red Cross came to give the girls a First Aid Workshop recently.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>We were delighted to receive a school visit from SERVE this morning! 🌟</p>
<p>Nollaig told us all about the amazing work that this small charity based in Blackrock does to support communities around the world who need it most! We completed project work based on Nollaig's presentation and independent research we found online! 👩‍🏫</p>
<p>Our sixth class entrepreneurs presented a check of €350 euro from their profits to contribute to the work SERVE does! 👏💛</p>
