Big thank you to everyone involved in our 4th annual George Wilshaw memorial golf classic in Cobh Golf Club yesterday. The course was in great shape for the day thanks to the staff and volunteers at the club. Thanks to all the players that took part, in not too favourable conditions throughout the day. Thanks also to the many sponsors of great prizes and the Tee-box sponsors also for their generous donations. Thanks to John Gilmore and the team for the huge effort in organizing the day and to Stephen Gannon, Kevin O’ Neill, Frank McCall, Pat Meade and John Barry for keeping the show on the road all day. Thanks to Ger Curley and his staff for hosting the prize giving last night. Congratulations to the prize winners, the longest drive & nearest the pin winners. Finally, congrats to the winning team of Paul McGee, Dave Walsh and Trevor Rowe who managed an outstanding round of 58nett. Second were the team lad by Paddy Donnachie who scored 60 while Ger Morgan’s team came third on 61. 4th place went to Niall Abott (Junior) and his team on 64. Nearest the pin on the 10th went to Dave Walsh and the Longest Drive on the 14th was by Anthony O’ Beirnes. Thanks to Graham Wilshaw for presenting the memorial cup to the winning team. We hope everyone enjoyed the day and evening in Jack Doyle’s in memory of our much loved and very sadly missed friend, George Wilshaw.
There was a great turn out for my son's Memorial golf outing in Cobh on the first day of his two days competition. Thank you to all those that participated.
Well done to our U11's who played Glanmire in a very entertaining and sporting game this morning, these girls are at the development stage in their football career and are improving very quickly each week, this team is definitely one to watch out for in the future, a big thanks to Glanmire and well done to both teams.
Thanks to Ellie Mackesy who was making her refereeing debut and did an excellent job.
Fantastic day of fun and games this week in Bunscoil Rinn An Chabhlaigh. Pirates mini coaches Dave Woods and Brian Walsh along with Ray Gadsden and Eneliko Fa’atau from Munster rugby paid a visit to show the kids how much fun rugby is. They were ably assisted by a few of the lads from this years 18.5s squad, Cameron, Casey and Donagh, who had just as much fun by the looks of it.

To celebrate World Ocean Day, Clean Coasts Cobh will be having a beach clean at Blackpoint Strand on Sunday June 12th!
We will meet at the new biodiversity sign at Whitepoint and move along to Blackpoint Strand.
The theme for World Ocean Day 2022 is “Revitalisation: Collective Action for the Ocean”. Through spreading awareness, World Ocean Day hopes to protect the Earth's major water bodies from rising pollution, acidification of ocean water, rising average temperatures, and a reduction in ocean biodiversity.
Even if you cannot attend on Sunday, we would ask people this week to spend 2 minutes doing a beach clean on any of the beaches around Great Island.
