<p>A great night at the launch of the Cobh Peoples Regatta 2022 in the Commodore Hotel. Its been three long years since the Regatta, one of the oldest in the world, has been held and it has been missed!</p>
<p>The hardworking committee have put together a fantastic three days with something for everyone.</p>
<p>The Regatta will run from 12-14th August and be sure not to miss it.</p>

<h3>Great win for Ireland Basketball under 18 ladies</h3>

<p>Another great performance from the Irish U18 Women in Sofia last night. A 64-59 victory over Romania gave Ireland a 2-2 overall result in Pool D. Unfortunately Ireland needed a 7 point win to qualify for the tournament quarter finals but unfortunately fell short by a single basket. If ever a victory felt like a defeat, this was it, but the girls should be immensely proud of another fantastic effort, with Cobh's Amy Duggan playing her part.</p>
<p>Amy was once again unrelenting in her defence and contributed 9 points as well. She has had an amazing championship to date averaging 27 minutes per game court time and over 7 points per game.</p>
<p>Sarah Hickey with 23 points and 22 rebounds (!!!) lead the way and she received great support in scoring from Lucy Coogan with 18 points. Maria Kealy with 8 assists once again show her talents as a point guard.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Ireland play Norway tomorrow 16:15 in the first of the 9-18 classification games. After a performance like last night, they should be high in confidence against their Scandanavian opponents.</p>

<p>On our Wednesday 1 hour Community Challenge we were delighted to be joined by members of Cobh Triathlon Club who did great work clearing huge quantities of old seaweed and caught up litter from the camber making a huge difference here. Onto the carpark at the bottom of Westview to clear kerbside weeds and litter &amp; glass from the edges. The superstars of the night were the kids who came along with their mums and swept cigarette butts from the squares as well as litter picking and did a huge badly needed litter pick at the back of the Community College beside the Astro pitch. Thank you to everyone who helped tonight. We were buzzing with the atmosphere down town and appreciate all the help.&nbsp;</p>
<p>5 weeks of the community challenge completed with help from Ballymore Cobh A.C. , Cobh Wanderers Afc, Rushbrooke Rowing Club Cobh , Cobh TEC and Cobh Triathlon Club. Who’s up for the last 3 weeks? Message us if your club or community group wants to help out.</p>

<p>Fantastic turn out for CSC Wednesday night dinghy racing, well done sailors, thanks to Maurice &amp; Frances for challenging course and to Harry for keeping g a watchful eye on everyone. Wonderful to see such club spirit.</p>

<p>Cobh u15 hurlers had a great win over Erins Own with a strong second half performance in the second round of Championship Wednesday evening on our main pitch.  Well done to all the players.</p>
