<p>Incredible how much good work you get done with a big team out! On our Wednesday 1hour Community Challenge we had PIRATES RFC out with our volunteers giving the town from the train Station to the Well House including both squares and the Promenade a thorough sweep. In advance of this weekend’s Cobh Triathlon Club Jailbreak Triathlon on Saturday we swept broken glass,silt, litter and thousands of cigarette butts to ensure a good welcome for all competitors and their supporters. Thanks so much to all from Pirates for helping us Wednesday evening.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Cove Sailing Club's foray into Optimist junior sailing in 2021 bore fruit last weekend when the Cork Harbour club hosted its inaugural Optimist dinghy Regatta.</p>
<h3>Building on CSC participation at the IODAI Munster Championships earlier this year at Royal Cork and a number of coaching sessions, a 12-boat fleet mustered for the CSC event supported by the Club's Gary Mills.</h3>

<p>"For my project I took pictures of some of the buildings in my local community using a Polaroid camera. I then took down the names of those buildings on a piece of paper.” - Kian</p>
<p>Layer by Layer invited young people from Cobh YMCA to interrogate their connection to Cobh in collaboration with the artists Darn Thorn, Ciara Rodgers and Deirdre Breen. The project evolved through nine workshops in 2021 and 2022. The group investigated how Cobh's buildings and sites shaped the town’s circumstances, sense of place, know-how and communities.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Layer by Layer was curated by Lucia Taeubler, SIRIUS Curatorial Fellow, under the direction of Miguel Amado, the director of SIRIUS.</p>
<p>The project was funded by Creative Ireland Cork County grant scheme.&nbsp;</p>

<h3>Port of Cork History and Art</h3>

<p>President Johanna joined the Port of Cork Company for an evening of maritime history and art, celebrating The Port of Cork Collection at The Crawford Art Gallery. They were taken on a guided tour of this significant collection of artwork which dates back to the early 19th century.</p>
<h3>Under 15 hurlers win  again</h3>

<p>Cobh U15 hurlers had another strong display with victory over Fr.O’Neills in the final round robin game of the competition. With 3 wins from 3 against O’Neills, Castlelyons and Erins Own, Cobh now qualify for the semi final of the East Cork  competition. Well done to all.</p>

<h3>Fr Dermot Fenelon RIP</h3>
<p>It is with great shock and sadness that we wish to inform you of the sudden but peaceful death of our dear chaplain, Rev Fr Dermot Fenlon, WEDNEDAY  morning, 17th August. May he rest in peace.  As we celebrate this Feast of Our Lady of Knock, I think we can be quietly confident that she whom he loved with such devotion has welcomed him into his eternal reward.  On his behalf I ask for prayers for his dear Soul.  St John Henry Newman, to whom he also had such great devotion, pray for him.  We will all so much miss his peaceful reassuring presence, kindly smile and words of encouragement.  We thank God for this blessed three years since he arrived in our midst on the Feast of the Sacred Heart, 2019.&nbsp;</p>
