Another great outing with Beavers . After a very warm hike in from Cuskinny we continued to show our support for Cobh Tidy Towns and Cleancoast Cobh by setting about litter picking on the beach below the Scout Hall and by the Camber, with a break for lunch in between. Beavers had a lesson on how to build a fire, and the reward for their hard work was sausages and s’mores cooked on the fire in the beautiful sun. We finished up about 10 minutes before the heavens opened - talk about lucky!! Well done guys, ye were all a pleasure today and we’re super proud of ye.

The Exhibition is currently on in Mitchel Hall, Spike Island and runs until Nov. . It was such a lovely event to attend and is a must see!&nbsp;

What a day !
&nbsp;Today we had a great treat with a visit from the Irish Coast Guard for a multi agency training exercise. ( you may have noticed the Helicopter flying around!!).
We had a chance to look inside at the equipment, had a talk about working safely around the Helicopter, and had a chance to see a winch exercise take place.

After the excitement of the U16A final, next up was the U18A final between Cobh and Limerick Celtics.
Both teams had met earlier in the season in the National U18 cup in Limerick, where Limerick had emerged victorious and went on to win the national cup in the final played in Neptune. Limerick had also taken the honours in the league game in Limerick and would have been favourites going into the game. The pattern of the first quarter was one which would be repeated through the whole game. The lead changed hands on multiple occasions with periods of dominance for both teams. The aggressive pressing of Limerick certainly caused Cobh problems and resulted in too many turnovers from the harbour side, while Cobh’s dynamic fast break game gave Celtics issues in transition.
Jane Palmer opened the scoring for Cobh while Celtics first basket was a three pointer from Ava Crean. Both players were to make significant contributions to the scoring with Ava returning 9 points and Jane chipping in with 10 points. The first quarter finished with a 1 point Cobh lead, 14-13. Amy Duggan with 6 points for Cobh lead the scoring while Lucy Devoy, Gandy Malou and Amy Buckley scored for Celtics.&nbsp;
All season, Limerick have utilised their post players to great effect and this game proved to be no exception. In the second quarter, Gandy Malou and Amy Buckley were doing damage inside but Cobh’s three point shooting was keeping them in the game. Eimear Diggin, Mia Tarrant and a buzzer beater from Lucy O’Shea all hit three pointers as Cobh held a two point lead at the break, 31-29.&nbsp;
The third quarter was more of the same. Nothing separated the teams for long periods. Cobh switched to a 1-3-1 zone defence in an effort to protect players in foul trouble and it took Celtics a while to figure it out. With Lucy Devoy starting to hit some nice floaters in the key, Limerick edged the quarter 14-13 and one point separated the teams. Amy Duggan had 7 and there were 4 points from Zara Smith and 2 from Jane.&nbsp;
Anna Ring opened Cobh’s account at the start of the fourth quarter. Issey Leahy was starting to influence the game for Celtics, hitting two early baskets. Eimear hit another three pointer for Cobh and then a run of baskets from Gandy, Lucy and Ava saw Limerick open up a lead. Just when you thought the game was slipping away from Cobh, they responded with three pointers from Amy and Lucy O’Shea. Again Limerick responded and baskets from Issey and Lucy got them over the line despite a late two points from Eimear for Cobh.&nbsp;
Lucy Devoy was selected as MVP with 21 points but in truth it could have been any one of a number of players. The quarter scoring of 14-13, 17-16, 13-14 and 17-19 give a great indication of how titanic a struggle the game was. In truth, neither team deserved to lose but the cup was on its way to the Treaty city on a scoreline of 62-61.&nbsp;

Well done to club members Ber, Triona and Leilia who ran 25km for the craic today and to those who did their own unofficial brick/duathlon after the cancellation of the Club Training Duathlon. Busy weekend for lots of members!!

<h2>Wanderers win </h2>
Junior 1 Result: Cobh Wanderers 3-1 Passage.
Scorers: Jamie Gilmartin 38 &amp; 67, Keelin Ryan 79.
Wanderers put in a great performance against local rivals Passage to earn a win that ensures they will be playing 1st division football next season. A run of form, which shows four wins in their last five league games and maximum points from the last three outings, has seen the juniors turn a very precarious position into safety with one game remaining, away to Blarney United. The run started with a narrow home win against Fermoy in mid-March with Alec Laurent grabbing the only goal of the game. This was followed by a 6-0 rout away to Everton in early April with Jack McCarthy scoring a hat-trick along with a brace for Jamie Gilmartin and a goal from Oisin Cronin. There was a setback at home to U.C.C. a week later when they were very unlucky to lose to an 86th minute strike from the visitors. Eddie Stanton and Mick Nolan’s men got back to winning ways only a week later with a single goal victory away to Wilton with Jamie Gilmartin heading a stunning winner in the first half. Two wins this week have seen the team pull away from the relegation area of the division. A three nil win away to Youghal with a double from Tom Ring and an O.G. on Tuesday was followed this evening by a win over Passage by 3-1. Jamie Gilmartin opened the scoring in the 38th minute when he volleyed in a drive from Oisin Cronin from the left edge of the box. Passage levelled before half-time. Jamie grabbed his second in the 67th minute with a header from a foot out putting the finishing touch to a great header from Alex Lynch. Keelin Ryan scored the third with a superb run down the right before cutting inside and curling a left-foot effort into the corner of the net beyond the reach of the keeper. Wanderers had many opportunities to win by a bigger margin but job done and congratulations to all involved

Tough outings for both 16s and adult teams today both on the wrong side of the scorelines against strong Bandon Rugby and Thurles Rfc respectively. Unlucky lads , well done reaching the finals of campaigns.

The winner Trevor Cummins Train with Trevor comes from the home club of Sonia O’ Sullivan, Ballymore Cobh A.C., Co Cork with Natasha Adam’s Letterkenny AC was a most impressive winner of the ladies race. There was an excellent turnout on a beautiful day, with a great array of prizes - 40 in all plus medals to all participants, with 230 coming home.

<h2>Annual Wreath Laying Ceremony at Old Cemetery</h2>

A beautiful commemoration last Sunday at the Old Church Cemetery as the tragedy of HMS Mars was remembered by The Royal Naval Association Cork &amp; County Branch.
On 14th April 1902 HMS Mars, a Majestic Class Battleship, was anchored in Cork Harbour when an explosion occurred killing 12 sailors. Included in those lost was 23 year old Able Seaman Samuel Thomas from 1 Westbourne Place who died four days later from his injuries.
The ceremony which was lead by Tim McSweeney, Hon Secretary of the Branch included readings,song and music and was an evocative remembrance of these young men who lost their lives and who are interred in this beautiful&nbsp;
