<h3>Cobh Basketball</h3>
<h3>Cobh Basketball Club are delighted to announce that we have been selected as Club of the Year by the Cork Ladies Basketball Board.&nbsp;</h3>

<p>After the 2020 / 2021 season was cancelled due to Covid, it was great to be back on the basketball courts and playing competitive basketball again. We had teams in training from Under 9 all the way up to Senior. Our U14A and U15 teams finished as runners up in the league. Our U16A team won the championship and were league runners up. The U18A team reached the quarter finals of the National cup, losing in overtime in Dublin. They also were runners up in the U18A championship, losing by a point to National Cup winners Limerick Celtics.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Our Senior ladies team won the league in their first year at this level and were championship runners up while our Division 1 ladies were championship semi finalists.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The club was thrilled when Amy Duggan represented Ireland in the Home Countries International tournament in Cardiff and further great news followed when Amy was selected for the Ireland U18 European championship team. Amy will travel to Sofia at the end of July for the championships. With players selected on Provincial and Regional academies, there is hope that there will be further international recognition in the next few years.&nbsp;</p>
<p>None of our achievements would be possible without a dedicated bunch of coaches and parents supporting our club activities. We are also very grateful to our sponsors for their help with gear and other necessities. Thanks also to Coláiste Muire, Bunscoil Rinn an Chabhlaigh, Cobh Youth Services and Great Island Community Centre for the use of their facilities. A particular thanks to John for his help in ensuring our games went ahead in Coláiste Muire. Our committee and parents were on hand to implement Covid guidelines and we got through our games without any hitches.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Finally, the club would like to thank CLBB for bestowing this honour on us. Hopefully next season will see the club continue to develop and progress on and off the basketball courts.</p>

<p>History Walking Tour of Cork City 4th Class - our 4th classes had an amazing adventure in the city recently learning all about the history and culture of Cork along with a visit to the English Market and a guided tour of UCC - what a fun and exciting way to learn about our History</p>

<p>Walterstown NS held “Flag Day” yesterday to celebrate the awarding of three flags that we successfully earned this year. Our school was veryproud of this huge achievement!</p>

<p>The whole school community worked very hard to meet the criteria for each of the above flags. We held a whole school assembly on the yard – the first time we were able to do this in a long time! Members of the Green, Active and Amber Flag Committees spoke before each flag was raised to a rounding applause!</p>
<p>Afterwards, the Parents’ Association kindly organised a visit from the ice-cream van to celebrate the amazing achievement. Everyone was delighted with their ice-cream/slushie!</p>

<p>Cobh's under 12 development team all under 11's who played a friendly against Carrigtwohill on Friday evening. Another great all round display and you can a noticeable improvement with every game. A fantastic bunch of girls</p>
