<p>After a rip roaring game of Camogie,  Bunscoil Rinn an Chabhlaigh came so close to victory in the final of the Sciath Na Scoil camogie at Pairc Ui Rinn today Wednesday. After taking the lead in the first minute,  with an excellent point, the Cobh girls were rocked with two  quick fire goals which unsettled them. They missed  a few scoring opportunities and St Bridget's Midleton were in the driving seat at the short whistle. Whatever the mentors  Mis Meaney and Miss Kennedy newcomers to Sciath Ns Scoil and old hand Siobhan Looney, it worked the girls stormed into the game and reduced the defecit to the minimum with 7 minutes to go. Midleton although under huge pressure,  fought back with 2 goals and 2 points to push them out to a  3 goal lead. With 4 minutes on the clock. undaunted  Bun Scoil hit back with 2-1 and came very close to snatching a goal, but time ran out. The spoils went to the Midleton school, where I was chaplain from 1970-1977,  but i was firmly on the side of the Bunscoil brave hearts.</p>

<p>It was the turn of our 3rd year students to gather and celebrate all that they have learned and achieved over the past 3 years. We are so proud of all our students and it was great to have the opportunity to mark the end of their time in the Junior Cycle and acknowledge how far they all have come . Under the watchful eye of Year Head Ms O Meara and the support of all their teachers this group has been working hard in preparation for their upcoming exams and we wish them all every success.</p>

<p>We are thrilled that our 5th year students were recognised their achievement this year. The team trained up all our First Year students in CPR, an essential life saving skill and they also saw the need to highlight our schools Eircode in case of emergency.&nbsp;</p>
<p>👏They trained each first year class and ran an awareness campaign about our Eircode, by creating posters to display the code around our school.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Congratulations 🎉 you should be very proud of your achievement. We look forward to expanding our school CPR training next year.&nbsp;</p>

<p>&nbsp;We were lucky enough to be joined by some members from Cobh Tidy Towns to formally present our u14s with their New Jerseys. Ruth and the girls spoke to the girls about the importance of keeping our town clean and keeping those around us accountable too.&nbsp;</p>
<p>We would love to see as many of our members supporting Cobh Tidy Towns, who meet Wednesdays for one hour at 7pm in the Promenade and Saturdays 10 am in Town Hall Carrig House&nbsp;</p>

<p>Course Development Through Club Lotto - Update</p>
<p>&nbsp;This email is to let all members of Cobh Golf Club know the recent Course Development activity that has been facilitated by the Members Lotto Funds.</p>
<p>Recent purchases have been made on the recommendation of the Course Manager and the Management Committee.</p>
<h4>These include -</h4>
<p>Replacement of Flags and Pins on the Course.</p>
<p>Replacement of some Tee Markers at Tee Boxes.</p>
<p>New Rakes in Bunkers.</p>
<p>Renewal of Curtain Netting in Practice Area.</p>
<p>Installation of the Metal Grid at the Cleaning area on exit from the 18th Hole.</p>
<p>Purchase of Sand Bags, which facilitate players in repairing Divots, while playing.</p>
<p>Projects in development include Environment Improvement around the Clubhouse and the Entrance and on course Signage and Seating.</p>
<p>The Lotto Team members work to conduct the Lotto each Thursday at 3pm in the Clubhouse. The Members are Miriam Glanville, Eileen Van Leeuwen, Maura O'Mahony and Colm McGinley. Others who assist when requested are Mary O'Grady, Liz Ryan and Noel Maguire.</p>
<p>On average approximately €800 is raised each month which is then available for Course Development.</p>
<p>The Minimum Jackpot is €500 - It currently standing at €1200.</p>
<p>The last three Jackpot Winner have all been regular players of the Club Lotto.</p>
<p>Each week we also have two Lucky Dip Draws for €35 each - One from Physical Tickets and One Online.</p>

<p>Sport can be fickle and many times unpredictable,  Kerry found out that to their cost at Pairc Ui Rinn this Wednesday evening when Cork administered a drubbing to their more favoured opponents. Its difficult to explain how a 14 point drubbing in the first round could turn into  a 11 point victory in the space of 19 days.. Thats sport. Surprised that there was no East Cork representative on the panel. We should not have to wait too long with the Cobh under 15 team doing so well in Feile this year. Won East Cork section and lost out in the Co Semi Final by a goal to eventual champions Kilshannig. Good luck to Kilshannig in the National Finals.</p>
