Huge Congratulations to the Cobh Camogie U12 ‘Yellow’ team on winning the County Final on Sunday 26th September against a very tough Na Piarsaigh side. After a superb display of skill and teamwork on a wet and windy day the girls, after playing with the hill and the wind, came in 7 points up at halftime. They battled hard and maintained their advantage until the last water break.&nbsp;
With nothing to lose Na Piarsaigh lay siege to the Cobh goal and with the elements in their favour, they powered into a 4 point lead with 2 minutes remaining. When all seemed lost the Cobh girls never gave in and through pure will and determination, they pulled back to a one-score game. With time for one last play, the girls worked the ball to the forwards who attacked the Na Piarsaigh goal forcing a 45 metre free for Cobh.&nbsp;
After a bit of drama, and extra time a possibility, Gemma Lowth Walsh split the posts to level the game. With the Cobh girls re-energised, they continued their massive work rate and went in a point up after the first period of extra time. With 5 mins remaining and Cobh defending superbly, these girls would not be denied, the ref sounded the final whistle to huge cheers from family, friends and their teammates from the ‘Green’ team.&nbsp;
Captain Isabelle O’Connell collected the trophy on behalf of her team, and after thanking Na Piarsaigh for a great game, they ran to their supporters to huge cheers. Great performances by all including goalie Naoise Ryan, backs Hannah Meaney, Isabelle O’Shea, Isla Taft, Gemma Lowth Walsh &amp; Emma McDermott, midfielders Isabelle O’Connell &amp; Chloe O’Donovan and forwards Mollie Verling, Katie Verling, Ruby McKeown, Abby Hackett, Eve Butler, Alessia Whelan, Erica Griffin, Aoibheann Anderson &amp; Ella Doherty.
