A busy weekend for Springfield Ramblers

~4 minutes read

It was a very busy weekend for Springfield Ramblers with 5 teams in action at home and away to Leeside, Fermoy, and Inisvalla.

U15A Girls Match Report

Leeside 2-1 Springfield Ramblers

undefined

The girls were away to Leeside this morning & lost a hard-fought battle 2-1 Great performance and determination by the girls playing with 10 players against 11. To be fair to the girls looked like the better team on the day. Leeside scored first on the 51st minute with a breaking ball in the defence with their striker slotting it in the bottom corner.

Springfield put on the pressure and scored from a well-placed corner from Kaitlyn O Brien with the ball falling to Emma O’Shea on the hop whipping it into the top right corner of the goal. The game was end to end for the remainder with each side having their chances to win the match until Leeside scored their second just 30 seconds to go from a loose ball.

Congratulations though on the 10 girls who gave it all.

Players to watch: Emma O Shea, Faye O’Sullivan, Aine Leahy, Zoe Moran

Well done to all involved.. Football And Fun ⚽😁

Fermoy 3-4 Springfield Ramblers

What a game and what a result!

The girls travelled to a cold and wet fermoy this morning and came away with all 3 points from the league leaders. We got off to a phenomenal start and within 20 minutes were 3 nil up and well deserved. Some brilliant football on the wing by Sarah Drumgoole led to a great ball in and finish by Amy Nash.

More great play on the right and across to the back post where Ruby Sillett kept her cool to make it 2. A brilliant individual effort by Amy made it 3 as she beat a few players before finishing well. The league leaders were shocked into action and what a reaction by them. Great play by their no.9 caused us lots of trouble and 3 goals in the next 10 minutes meant we were all square at halftime.

The second half was a much tighter affair with defences on top. Great credit goes to our captain on the day and stand-in centre back Chloe Farrell, right back Blaithin O Rourke and player of the match Orla Kelleher at left-back.

We had fewer chances in the second half but from a cleared corner Lily O Leary finished first time from the edge of the box to make it 4-3. We had a chance to make it 5-3 with a penalty but it went narrowly wide of the post. Fermoy had most of the play in the last 10 minutes and came close by hitting the post. The team worked hard and held out for a great win.

Well done girls 🙌

Fermoy 1-5 Springfield Ramblers

U15b away to Fermoy today. Really tough conditions and a really physical Fermoy side made for an excellent game today. The girls played some excellent football, some great passing.

Lily Walsh Curley kept Springfield in the game with some great goalkeeping.

Elle O'Donovan was very unlucky not to put us in front when her long-distance strike hit the post.

Halftime 0-0.

The girls game out fast in the second half playing excellent football and scoring two quick goals from Sonia Balanzin. Springfield took control of the game from then on with great team goals coming from Zara Costa, Gywn Murphy and Leah Casey. Fermoy scored a late consolation goal which wrapped up an awesome 5-1 victory for Springfield Ramblers.
