Castlerea Cycling Club was established in 2017 and is one of the fastest-growing cycling clubs in Roscommon. Based in Castlerea, it caters to all levels of ability and fitness from beginners to elite, male and female of all ages. The club runs weekly training twice a week for members and a beginner’s cycle every week from March to October, weather permitting. The club runs Pedal Pushers events and raises funds for local charities in the area. As mentioned we are lucky to have Para-cyclist and Olympian, Richael Timothy, as a member and also our ambassador to encourage more women into sports and cycling. The purpose of Castlerea Cycling club is to focus on social and supportive group cycling while highlighting and bringing awareness to the many benefits of cycling. Improved health, environmental responsibilities, and a practical, cost-effective means of transport are some of these benefits.
