Climate Change: The Challenge for Carrigaline

~1 minute read

With climate change becoming such a high profile issue and one that is sure to feature prominently in the upcoming General Election, Carrigaline Community Association Chairman said, “We are holding the meeting to see if there is an interest in Carrigaline becoming a Green Town. There will be a number of speakers on the night on energy transition, zero waste initiatives, transport and biodiversity with a question and answer section.”

In other news the Community Association have also put out the call for Carrigaline to be a Poster Free Zone for the upcoming General Election.

The Association have sent an open letter to all candidates:

“To all Candidates in the upcoming General Election 2020. The Carrigaline Community Association would appreciate if all candidates in the upcoming General Election for 2020, avoid the use of posters by running a poster free campaign from the 50km speed limit signs, as was carried out in the recent Local Elections as
they are a negative impact to our environment and Community.”

So far, many candidates, including Michael McGrath TD and An Tánaiste Simon Coveney TD have confirmed that they will comply with the request.
