Bagenalstown

<h3>Bagenalstown is one of 5 Irish towns that have been chosen under the 'Creative Places' scheme to receive funding from the Arts Council.</h3>
<p>The scheme aims to help areas like Bagenalstown, 'which (has) not benefitted from sustained arts investment in the past,' to develop local arts programmes that will enrich the lives of the people who live there.</p>
<p><a href="https://kclr96fm.com/e450000-to-be-invested-in-creative-opportunities-in-bagenalstown-county-carlow/" target="_self">It's reported that</a> up to €450,000 will be invested over 3 years to support the arts scene in Bagenalstown, which will hopefully drive tourism and increase the quality and quantity of programmes/attractions available.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Creative Places Bagenalstown will be managed by Carlow County Council. Various local groups were involved in securing the funding, including the Chamber of Business and Tourism for Bagenalstown, Bagenalstown Family Resource Centre, Carlow Regional Youth Services, Bagenalstown Improvement Group, Carlow County Development Partnership, Take A Part Carlow and the Community Section of Carlow County Council.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Speaking on the awarded funds, Cllr Fintan Phelan, Cathaoirleach Carlow County Council said 'Bagenalstown is a vibrant place with huge potential for the arts.' He also thanked the above community groups in Bagenalstown for their support.</p>
<h3><strong>What's next</strong></h3>
<p>To move forward, the local council will appoint a coordinator or researcher. The coordinator will then engage with Bagenalstown community groups to identify arts programmes worth pursuing.</p>
