Achill Island will host a three-day Midsummer Walks Festival from 23rd to 25th June 2023.
The event will feature three guided walks on established looped routes, plus a welcome walk on St. John's Night and a Saturday night social.
The three main walks are repeated on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th, allowing visitors to enjoy a different walk each day. The walks featured are:
<ul>
<li>Slí Grainne Mhaol - a challenging 6.7km hike with a height gain of 334m.</li>
<li>Dooega Loop Walk - a 14km lowland hike.</li>
<li>Dooagh Loop Walk - an easy 5km loop walk that is perfect for families.</li>
</ul>
In addition there is a 5km welcome night walk from Achill Sound towards Saula on the newly-extended Great Western Greenway, including traditional St. John's Night celebrations.
And walkers can enjoy a Saturday night 'blister ball' at Patten's Pub in Dereens, with live music and traditional boxty.
