Keel is a shingle beachbackedwithlow sand dunes. The wetter areas of machair supports low growing mosses. To the southeast of the plain the ground rises sharply and the hills are covered by blanket bog and heath.The beach has no disabledfacilities. The beach is lifeguard patrolled during the bathing season (lifeguard times are displayed on the information noticeboard at the beach).
