Teach Cruachán is a welcoming 5-bedroom gem overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in Dooagh village. At a spacious 2,700 sq ft / 252 sq m, the former deluxe B&B offers comfortable accommodation for up to twelve guests. Teach Cruachán is only 5km from the iconic Keem Beach and 3km from Keel village. Developed around a cottage built by the host’s grandmother over 105 years ago, the sleeping accommodation boasts 2 large family bedrooms on the first floor, each with a super-king bed and a twin bed (option for an alternative layout of 3 twin beds on request), and 3 double bedrooms on the ground floor, one with a double bed, and two with a queen bed that share a Jack and Jill shower room. With 5 bathrooms equipped with showers, and TVs and hair dryers in every bedroom, guests will feel right at home. Enjoy the peaceful seaside location and modern amenities like WiFi, a large kitchen with commercial cooker and Miele dishwasher, two living areas, Bosch washing machine, gas central heating, multi-fuel stove, and an iron & ironing board. The living and dining areas and three of the five bedrooms enjoy panoramic views of the wild Atlantic. There is a south-facing paved terrace for sitting out, and off-road parking for four cars. A resident pod of common dolphins and seasonal visitors like basking sharks can often be seen from here and from inside the house. There is additional parking at the rear of the house that is shared with Achill Bikes, the on-site bicycle hire shop. All energy costs (bulk gas, electricity, and solid fuel for the snug’s stove) are included, subject to a generous fair usage policy. Your group will also be supplied with a hamper of local produce, cook’s necessities (spices and condiments), and one day’s free bicycle hire for everyone (value up to €30 each). Dooagh is the home of Scoil Acla Irish music summer school, the September Folk Festival, Captain Boycott’s residence, the highest sea cliffs in western Europe, and the lowest corrie lake in Europe, making the area a walker’s paradise. Most of the locations used in the film ‘Banshees of Inisherin’ are within a few minutes’ drive. The trailhead for Dooagh National Looped Walk is only 60m from the house, and the linear trail to Slievemore Deserted Village starts just 30m on, in Dooagh Beach carpark. If you don’t fancy cooking, you can take a 3-minute walk to nearby Gielty’s Clew Bay pub/restaurant or try some of the many options for eating out and take-aways in Keel and around the rest of the island. Your stay at this wonderful property will be a memorable one. Your experienced hosts, Michael and Roisin, live in a fully separate apartment next door, and they’ll be available to answer any questions you might have.
